These were taken at an anual event in Dallas that is put on by a local radio personality(sic).

ARE THESE PICTURES TAKEN FROM AN OFFICER'S FUNERAL?

Anonymous wrote: Monday, May 14, 2007 - 13:23

Right, they still sell these new. Not every department has unlimited funds to spend on a $2500 light bar when you can get 5 for that price. My county pays starting deputies $7.50 an hour but they don't mind spending $12,000 to outfit 5 new cars with LEDs. Mixed up priorities if you ask me.

Guest Jack wrote: Sunday, May 13, 2007 - 21:27

Why not, it's a good lightbar in my opinion. Just because a newer police car doesn't have an LED lightbar doesn't mean that the lightbar on that car is old or outdated.

The streethawk? Are you kidding me? I cant believe anyone would put this bar on a modern patrol vehicle!!

Guest Jack wrote: Thursday, April 5, 2007 - 22:14

This is a Caprice, actually.

Maybe so no suspect gets stuck in the eye with the ball of a whip antenna?

These vehicles are driven by "Incident Commanders" which are basically patrol supervisors. They previously drove Tahoes and possibly these will replace them in their fleet.

I guess black and whites are the in thing. Here in South Florida several small municipalities have also gone to black and whites.

Guest JOE TEX wrote: Saturday, August 26, 2006 - 7:42

WOW now this police graphic is very unique nice going Upshur county

Guest JOE TEX wrote: Saturday, August 26, 2006 - 7:34

Black and whites ahh what are they they thinking!this is not california where all you see is black and white police units that dont even have a unique police graphics just a non reflective cheap logos ,and chevy impalas?i guess the gas is too expensive to buy c.v.p.i's well dont want to sound too critical of my state but this is my 2 cents

Guest JOETEX wrote: Saturday, August 26, 2006 - 7:26

Did you all notice that these new units have the frequency tuned anttenas max rad(tm)hmm i wonder why they instaled em instead of the other trunk annntens

Guest JD wrote: Friday, August 25, 2006 - 17:35

Yeah, I'm no fan of the small Chevy's either. I don't mind them as unmarked detective cars, or for other light duty assignments, but not for everyday patrol duty.

They may have gotten the paint/graphic scheme right but the sure messed up on the vehicle selection!!!!!

Guest JD wrote: Thursday, August 24, 2006 - 17:45

After many graphic schemes, FWPD finally got it right. Black and whites are sharp!

Guest JD wrote: Thursday, August 24, 2006 - 17:43

ANYONE KNOW WHAT "CCPD FUNDED" REFERS TO?

"The Chevy Impala is as powerful as the Dodge Charger with V6 or the Ford Police Interceptor"

I'm going to guess that you've never actually DRIVEN any of these cars as a police officer, have you?

The Tahoes are for CVE as well as K-9. It is my understanding that the Department wants to replace all of our CVE trucks with Tahoes as well as all the K-9 Units that still have CV's. All our Units are marked "TEXAS HIGHWAY PATROL" now, but the one pictured here is a CVE Unit. It would indeed be marked if it were a K-9.

When I was in Kindergarten the Mobile PD used these cars with little remote control police cars. Those officers were so nice and that's why I want to be a cop now!! I'm only 18 so it wasn't too long ago. It's sad to see them all grown over with bushes. That lightbar is almost as big as the car!! I wonder where the Military Jeep that McGruff rode on is. They were always with Fuzzy and Fuzzette. Well thought y'all would enjoy this story!!
