It's not from any state, it is a Chevrolet demo car

Anonymous wrote: Friday, May 25, 2007 - 13:26

What state is this car from?

Please note the "no respect" comment coming from a nitwit who can't spell TAURUS when it's already there in the caption of the photo.

Just see what happens to you if you choose to disrespect a police officer based on the vehicle he patrols in.

These '72's are great. In the late 70's thru the early 80's I owned a few of them that were ex Ohio State Patrol cars. They all had the 440 with the 600 c.f.m. Holley carb and dual exhaust. I only wish I knew then what I know now. I am somewhat searching for a '72 that I can restore to it's former glory. A lot of officers thought the 94-96 Caprices ran good, which they did, but there's nothing like laying into a 440 with the air cleaner lid flipped over.

I was reffering to ""after"" they retire the car, meaning, the car is NO longer used and being auctioned, they paint them so as he said, a bozo doesnt play trooper. I said it was a good idea if a department doesnt use graphics and has mainly unmarked cars, so that way, if they use the same model of car still, and phasing them out theyll see the wacky lines knowing that bozo the clown is playing cop.

I was curious, I noticed most of the patrol used in movies with tennessee emblems the striping stops about half a foot past the rear door, and the real ones have the complete stripe. is this to tell the difference between the two, real from fake or movie makers just decide cheaper to put state trooper on the rear? or was those the old emblem design THP used?

you guys are funny. i do agree though the spot light is too high. i think the grave yard is the right place for these cars anyway.

Weird red lights...did they flash?

Also, what the heck kind of siren is that?...got an intake cone like a 747 engine!

These were God awful patrol cars. I remember years ago driving a couple different ones...I think a 1981 and 1982 models.....they were silver with one red bubble in the center of the roof. We joked that when you turned on the revolving red light that the light stood still and the car spun! The had 255 V-8 engines and were sorta snappy but they didn't handle well.

The CSP issued the marked white cars around 1998, one per troop for public duties like escorts. They wound up being used as spares or by the auxiliary troopers. CSP has used unmarked cars for many years with removeable light racks as CT troopers have personal off duty use of their cars.

So Dodge makes those contraptions.

I think we talked about this car years ago. I believe the City of San Marcos purchased the car for Sheriff's Deputies to patrol under a contract. Look a little further on the trunk and you'll see the word SHERIFF.

Guest chunk69 wrote: Thursday, June 30, 2005 - 14:38

can't you see on the back trunk that this is a San Marcos PD car? If I'm correct, the car next to it is a San Diego county sheriff car.

I currently have 24735 photos on the site. Lots of them were here before this fotki site opened. We had several server crashes in the early days. Some data was lost. It has taken years to try and restore data, including titles. When we title photographs, we are looking at a thumbnail usually. That is probably why it was listed as unknown, because we were working with previous descriptors and matching file names to the titles. Whoever titled it "unknown" probably couldn't read the trunk in the thumbnail.

They started putting graphics on their cars in the late 90's. They are white cars with blue and yellow graphics. There are probably pictures of some of them on this site somewhere.
