Hey Bozo, he's talking about Gran Furys, not St Regises like you show him pictures of. They have different dashesboards.
________________________________
What the hell is a dashesboard, pin head? If you're refering to a DASHBOARD, they're all the same and the parts are interchangeable in the GranFury, St Regis and Newport R-bodies of 1979-81.
Here's a GranFury with a correctly mounted spotlight.

Now go play in the street.

I just happened across a similar car as pictured above. These spot lights are as correct as they're going to be. The dashboard in these cars is about the size of a flight deck on a carrier. The spot lights must be mounted about mid way up the A pillar to clear the dashboard edge.

Great Cars!

You're joking, right? The correct mounting point is about 3" up from the the bottom of the pillar.

You've got to stop reading the Mopar board.

What would Tater and S.P.I.T. think of the spot light placement on these R bodies?
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
this is why we need a national guideline written by Tater.
Or..maybe not. It's been a few years since I actually lived in NY and can't be sure if that's right or not. D'oh.
Guest Timothy Wade wrote: Friday, September 26, 2003 - 17:18
Actually, NYSP cars often have different plates on them, sometimes they're just generic municipality plates, sometimes they're special troop plates...all sorts of different ones.
Guest Bob Kowal wrote: Wednesday, September 24, 2003 - 20:06
NYSP cars are identified by their liscense plate. Can this mustang's plate number be read on the original photo?
Gee, I never knew there was a distinction. Where I'm from, any big full-size car can be a "lead sled"
Guest AJ wrote: Friday, June 13, 2003 - 15:58
not necessarily. patrol cars that can't get out of their own way are usually called lead sleds.
Anonymous wrote: Friday, June 13, 2003 - 14:57
a lead sled is from the fifties not the nineties
Guest Ryan T wrote: Sunday, February 23, 2003 - 9:34
I would think that they coulbn't catch many speeders in this. what is the top speed?
++++++++++++++++++++++++++
This is actually faster than a production B4C Camaro pursuit car. The all-wheel-drive feature and dual LT1 motors (front and rear) with direct-drive axles can rocket this truck along at speeds up to an estimated 176mph. Conventional radar only has an effective range of up to approx 161mph, After that, image refraction and signal bounce tend to make reading inaccurate. The 176 speed was achieved in 1997 at the MSP vehicle tests at the Chrysler Chelsea Proving Grounds by officials with stop watches and graph charts.
Rumor has it that the MSP will be auctioning this beast in March to replace it with a much slower H2 Hummer.
Guest Ryan wrote: Sunday, February 23, 2003 - 9:32
This car is really cool too.
Guest Ryan T wrote: Sunday, February 23, 2003 - 9:31
That is the coolest car I've ever seen. I love that movie. I thought they wrecked the car in the movie or was this beofre?
^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^
This photo was taken during the filming of the movie in October of 1979 for a scene that was later cut out of the finished movie. In the scene, Jake and Elwood make a dash back to Detroit to try and convince their distant cousin, Oakland A's pitcher Vida Blue (played by Morgan Freeman), to leave in the middle of a Tigers-A's game and join the band. It was a very touching scene. I have it on super8mm film as I was on location that day.
Not sure what this photo is about, but finding a namesake is somewhat unusual!!!
actually, Buz Bowling is the contributor of the photos in this album. The "Darryl" you see in the picture is Darryl Lindsay, not Bowling.
