The police agency in my hometown uses several Chevy Tahoes and GMC Yukons. They the lightbars towards the center of the roof. I have never seen on that far back.

For full-frontal take-downs, I've noticed that several Ohio police SUV's now have optional grille strobes/LEDS, interior dash-lights, head and tail light flashers, and most now incorporate wig-wags.

How about for better visibility from the rear? With the bar mounted toward the front, upproaching drivers may not see the lights as quickly on uneven terrain due to the higher roofline of the SUV.

two possibilities: sunroof, or, instead of strapping it, they simply used the exsisting (and absent) roof rack slider holes to mount... which is bush league installing.... cutting corners, meh.

Any idea why the lightbar is mounted so far back on the vehicle? I've seen some US Border Patrol units with the bars mounted well to the rear of the vehicle, but I can't figure out why. is there a functional benefit?
