Doug, I believe 1969 is part of the date of the incident, not the model year of the "un-makred" Plymouth.

Joe, it's a '68.

A very afFORDable technique indeed!

If they only knew the oval Ford emblem was easily removed, they could have placed SHERIFF in a better position.

greg, you forgot nassau county. (cuz you care right?)

nassau's been using blue lights ever since they started using the advantedge. a little after the cars went from orange to WBO...a moot point considering.

WAAAAAAAAY back in the day, when cars didnt really HAVE a sea of brakelights, a single red light WAS the way to stand out, because white was the commonplace light (for headlights, streetlights, signs, houses, anything) and if you've ever tried to price a blue glass lens for one of those old noisy rattletrap bubblegums you'd know why all police at one point used red lights. in europe, the glass was dyed differently and the lights overall were smaller and cheaper. but not as bright and definitely not as reliable as ours.

now as plastics became more available, blue started to show up in some of our nations squad cars, along with a NEW invention: the brake light.

some departments still use red because if it aint broke...........

Not any uglier than the new markings. Now they look just like everyone else.

Guess what? Blue lights are now legal on PD cars in NY. They are popping up all over the place. This was one of the longest comment strings in these album, I'm shocked there aren't any further comments now.

I have never seen so many police cars in one place
before. Is this a funeral or something?

Yes, these were photos from Saratoga, NY at the funeral for NY Trooper Longobardo.

How many marked and unmarked Ford Expeditions do the Mass State Police have?

Anonymous wrote: Thursday, September 28, 2006 - 8:43

The Michigan State Police probably have many Chevy Tahoes. On the one hand, the question remains. Will GM ever produce 2007 or 2008 Chevy Tahoe Police vehicles?

Guest Brett wrote: Wednesday, September 27, 2006 - 22:32

The MSP uses very few impalas and chargers to date. They are mainly test vehicles. The mass order is still for the crown vic and tahoe. MSP currently has about 30-40 chargers.

Like the Mass State Police, the Maryland State Police drive both Ford Police Inteceptors and Dodge Charger Police vehicles.

Delaware State Police uses both Ford Police Interceptors and Dodge Charger Police cars.

The side markings are decals and were (and still are)reflective.

Guest Joe A wrote: Saturday, September 23, 2006 - 4:36

During 76 & 77 the NYSP used Gran Fury "C" body.

Anonymous wrote: Friday, September 22, 2006 - 14:29

DO YOU KNOW IF THE 'STATE POLICE' LETTERS ON THE BLUE & YELLOW CARS WERE PAINTED & DECALS - AND IF THEY WERE DECALS, WERE THEY REFLECTIVE?

Anonymous wrote: Friday, September 22, 2006 - 14:27

ANYBODY KNOW WHAT VEH. THEY USED IN '76 & '77?
