Was this Pinto and the bug an attempt to save fuel in the 70's gas crisis?

the lightbar is almost as big as the car.

Judging from the dent on the hood of the VW, it was probably parked behind that skip loader on a regular basis.

Why are there stripes at the real bumper of the Ford police cars?

Anonymous wrote: Monday, June 12, 2006 - 5:52

I understand the New York State Police needs 4-wheel drive veicles because winter is very harsh. Also, the most areas in the NY receives excessive snow. Police officers are defnitely need to respond when the traffic accident occur.

Will the New York State Police keep using the Ford Police Interceptor? I hear that the State of New York Police considers switching Dodge Charger Police car from the Ford Police Interceptor. I noticed that there are yellow tapes. Why are yellow tapes are needed?

beautiful reflective striping. is that a old style remote rotating spot light?

I went to a Cops 'n Rodders show and the above NYSP Helo arrived. I was talking to the pilots and learned this aircraft was built in 1972. The car I brought to the show is registered historical and is a 1973 Chevy. One yr newer than this still in service helo.

This has to be one of the worst looking cars I've seen in a while. I'd rather be on bike patrol than have to drive that.

Most NY police cars still use all red lights.

Guest Jeffro wrote: Thursday, May 18, 2006 - 21:25

I love the "Sheriff" license plate and the "extra" tail lights on the rear deck.

Guest Jeffro wrote: Thursday, May 18, 2006 - 21:24

This thing looks more like a FIRE/EMS car than something that the police would use. Maybe it needs some blue lights?

Thanks Tom. Didn't know that. I took a picture of a brand new Park Police Cr Vic in Albany a couple of months ago and it still had the green markings with the maple leaf on the doors. There must be some reason the words PARK POLICE are no longer prominently displayed.

These are the new graphics for '06. All of the new New York State Park Police vehicles around here (Hudson, NY) have these markings. Only a few of the older Crown Vics still have the green stripes at the local barracks.

Ugh. The all red lightbars look terrible on these units.

I was able to download previous photos before the website was hacked into. The new website won't allow me to download photos today. Is possible to download them for personal interest.

The pictures here are no longer able to be downloaded. That was a copcar dot com administrative decision. Too many pictures from here were popping up on other websites without our knowledge or permission. We have many great contributors and it was not fair to see their submissions stolen and reposted on someone else's webpage.

We actually dont have any MDC or MDTs in our units. All reports are done at the station and everything else, like run plates or look up things is done by dispatch over the radio or Nextel. We use a Jotto console unit, built really nice, but it is around a 12" unit mounted between the middle seat and the dash. Everything is crammed in there, our radar unit, radio, siren, and two toggle switches for the spot lights. Our code lights are operated by a rotary knob under the headlight control, a true knee banger.

You use Jotto desks and work on a reservation? Don't you get an awful lot of shake? I have a Jotto in my truck and normally keep my laptop on it all the time. Probably why my laptop crashed, from the constant vibrating and shaaking. I haven't put my new laptop on it and probably won't.
