I enjoy looking at the pictures of the Dodge Charger Police cars. When I wrote about the conditions of IL State Police vehicles, someone stated that several police cars are older than 10 years old. Is it true? How many Dodge Charger police cars did the IL state buy? Does anyone know?

ISP is gradually going to the LED bars. However D15 is the only place you will see a Charger this year. Rest of the state got 350 Fords and 150 Impalas.

As everyone knows, Camaro was killed in 2002. How long will the CHP use Camaro? Why doesn't the CHP drive the Potiac GTO? Indeed, the Pontiac GTO is as fast as the Camaro. After Camaro is retired, will the CHP use the Ford Mustang? In the past, the CHP had driven Ford Mustang, and many officers had been satisfied with using it. (I heard that the CHP may start to use the Ford Mustang in near future.) If the CHP does not buy the Ford Mustang, what will the CHP purchase? I speculate that the Dodge Charger will be purchased. In fact, some states had already started to use the Dodge Chargers. Most people know that the Charger is as fast as now-discountiuned Camaro. Further, it is as fast as Mustang. Several states say that Ford Mustangs are not needed because the Charger is avaiable to police, and it is a reasonably comfortable police car.

The 06 Impala is suppose to have a top speed of 140. I don't know what Chevrolet states the top speed was for the 00-05 Impala. I had an 00 Impala and the motor would shut down at 123.

The Chevy Impala 9C1 has a limiter and the speed is governed at 118mph, a far cry from the top-sppeds that Mr Anonymous is stating.

I enjoy seeing the two pictures of Chevy Impalas, which the CHP does not drive the front-wheel vehicles extensively.I speculate that the CHP uses the Ford for a while, although someone says that 10 to 12 CHP officers still drive Chevy Impala for a while. Further, many CHP officers are satisfied with the Ford because the trunk is bigger than Dodge and Chevy. The CHP, which loves rear-wheel vehicles, will have a greater chance to pick either Dodge or Ford. In the past, CHP had driven Dodge for decades. Although many people and I will not be suprised that the CHP purchases Ford or Dodge, they and I will be suprised that the CHP buys the Chevy, which is a front-wheel drive. In fact, Chevy has higher top speed rate than Dodge Charger (V6) and Ford since Chevy might not be as heavy as Ford or Dodge. If the CHP buys Ford or Dodge, the CHP states that it purchases the real-wheel drive. First, the trunk is reasonably big. Second, many police officers can easily understand how to drive the real-wheel drive. Third, most police officers state that the real-wheel drive is more stable than front-wheel drive when they need to drive faster for emergency reasons. Fourth, the top speed for real-wheel drive is faster than front-wheel drive. (However, I heard that the Chevy Impala hit in between 140 and 142 mph, while Dodge without Hemi and Ford hit around 135 mph. Indeed, Chevy Impala is quicker than real-wheel drive now-discountiuned Chevy Caprice, which hit 140 mph. Also, 0 to 60 mph is slightly faster than Chevy Caprice.) Nevertheless, If the CHP selects the Chevy Impala, the CHP says that due to better fuel economy, it picks the Chevy Impala. On the one hand, the Chevy Impala cannot beat Dodge Charger with Hemi, which is far more powerful and faster than Impala. In fact, Hemi can hit 155 mph, while Impala can hit only 140 and 142 mph. Dodge without Hemi hits only 135 mph, which is fairly close to Ford. 0 to 60 mph... Whereas Dodge with V8 can hit under 6 seconds, Ford, Chevy, Dodge with V6 can hit in between 8 and 9 seconds. Fuel Economy...Impala and Dodge without Hemi offer better fuel economy than Dodge V8 and Ford. Stop distance...Dodge V8 is much shorter distance than Dodge V6, Chevy and Ford. While driving for emergency reasons, most police officers will probably feel safer if the CHP selects Charger with Hemi.

The CHP used ten (or maybe 12) Impalas of recent vintage. They were evaluated, but never widely used. I'm sure they'll continue to look at them, Dodges, and anything else available to the marketplace just as they've looked at Volvos, Toyotas, etc. through the years.

I'll be sure to pass along your purchase recommendations on those tasked with making these decisions.

I was suprised that the California Highway Patrol may have used the Chevy Impala. The CHP selected the Chevy Impala because of stronger break and better fuel economy. The CHP prefers to use rear-wheel drive automobiles. Anyway, will the CHP use the Dodge Charger Police cars? In fact, Dodge Charger is much faster than the Ford Police interceptors. In addition, the stop distance is much better or shorter than the Ford.
Separately, will the CHP use the new Chevy Impala again? Whereas the break is not as good as the Dodge, the Chevy is better than Ford since the top speed is better than Ford. Chevy Impala and Dodge V6 police cars have one major advantage over Ford owing to better fuel economy. I guess that the CHP should purchase both Chevy Impala and Dodge V6. As a matter of fact, in the State of CA, the gasoline price is more expensive than all other states except Hawaii. I hope that the CHP picks both Chevy Impala and Dodge V6 instead of V8. As a result, the CHP does not need to feel the pain financially.

The whole point of leaving the comments section turned on is so that people can interact however they see fit. Albeit leaving useful comments or comments that they think are useful.

I am frankly tired of the people who must leave sarcastic comments back to a viewer. This can either end or the comments will be turned off. As of now, Tater (or anyone who thinks they can be like Tater) is being deleted from comments.

If somebody doesn't like it, they can find another site to hang out in.

I am sure the ISP Fleet section would love to hear that you think this car, which is probably not even in service anymore, needs better lighting. FYI the newer ISP unmarkeds and slick tops have the LEDs that run the length of the top of the windshield and rear window.

I was just commenting that I thought it needed more warning to the front. And if I post comments with useful information that people may OR may NOT know, who cares? If you already know it good for you, its like the old saying, "You learn something new everyday." Maybe I have informed someone on this site, if not, oh well. I think you are the pot calling the kettle black with your comments attacking other people, for no reason, which is even more pointless. I can care less, its amusing to me.

And Tater, I updated my Fotki site, so feel free to browse it, and my email is there to! Tater how long have you been in LE?
