Very cool! I wonder if this Magnum has the 5.7-liter V-8 engine - the one that cranks out 340 horsepower. The base engine in that car is just a V-6, which is still quite adequate for most urban patrol duty, but the V-8 would be so much more fun to drive!

If Daimler-Chrysler does things right, they could easily be back in the market & building "real" police cars. Ah, I can see a rusty Diplomat smiling from a junkyard somewhere. :-0

Remember the movie Vanishing Point? Yep....they wore'em there too.

I have watched CHiPs before, but I did not see any of the officers in the patrol cars wearing helments. Also I haven't seen many photos of officers in patrol cars wearing helments so it looked a little strange to me.

You never seen any 70's cop shows or movie have you? That is what they did back then in California, they wore helmets for safety reasons even in patrol cars. Watch CHiPs, the Original Gone in 60 Seconds and you will see them where helmets in the cars.

I think this photo is of a 1969 plymouth fury in Walnut Creek colors; but why are the officers wearing helmets if they are in a patrol car?
