If the mayor wanted to 'fire' the chief of police but the chief wanted to keep working, then why didn't the mayor just reappoint him as the town's 'fire' chief?

This is a small town along US Highway 65 that is notorious in Arkansas as a speed trap. It is an extremely poor city of just over 1000 people in the Mississippi River delta... makes you wonder how they pay for such nice equipment. A few years ago, the chief of police and the mayor had a falling out and the mayor tried to fire the chief, but he refused to quit working, so the mayor locked up the keys to the patrol cars which resulted in the chief punching the mayor. A real class act.

I have a feeling that this IS straight from a catalog, just with their badge added.

Like them or not I will say they are unique. Most departments today have abandoned tradition and simply buy graphics out of a catalog.

Nah... Slap a lightbar on top and it'll be a beauty. Nice thing about this one is that their graphics ride above the door strip or whatever they call it.

This is one of two traffic safety officers. They only respond to accidents and assist in enforcing code violations. These officers are usually retired police officers. They have no arrest authority and do not carry guns. Their unforms are white shirts with black pants unlike the solid black worn by the police officers.

This is a Springdale Police Dept. canine vehicle. They also have one in black. Springdale is south of Bentonville down I-540.

Thank You for the info.
They are like the "SCSTP"
South Carolina State Transport Police (CMV Police)
"we weigh you pay"

Anonymous wrote: Tuesday, June 20, 2006 - 21:09

No. They are the enforcement division of the Highway & Transportation Dept "the weight boys". However they have authority to enforce all traffic and criminal law with state wide jurisdiction.

Is that a division of the state police?

Someone took the picture very nicely from the front. Does anyone know that the Arkansas State Police buys and drives the Dodge Charger with Hemi or without Hemi? In fact, the Dodge Charger with V8 is as fast as now-discountiuned Camaro.
