wrong fellas look at it closely theres a dent on that fender it reaches up towards the hood of the car

Guest LIVE from Dallas, TX wrote: Sunday, June 24, 2007 - 9:22

That's ok, I've owned '88, '92, '96 and an '01 SS Camaro in my life.......if I know somethin' about any of these cars that's definitely it.

There's subtle differences that distinguishes the different years the vehicle came out, kind of like you can tell on the Crown Vics with the taillights, and rims.

Hahah, or maybe I just pay to close of attention to this stuff. :P

My bad on the Camaros. Its kinda hard to tell the what year they are.

Guest LIVE from Dallas, TX wrote: Friday, June 8, 2007 - 16:25

OH, you got me, tho actually Dallas PD has no mid-90's Camaro's, they did not purchase the Camaro until 2002, the last year it was produced. They put 6 into service which are used for limited traffic enforcement still today.

I herd they were discontuning it soon.

Why do you keep on asking these questions?

Anonymous wrote: Friday, June 8, 2007 - 5:17

Behind the Chevy Impalas, you see several Ford Police Interceptors on this picture. You also know that Ford Police Interceptors had not received a major redeisgn since 1998. Does anyone know that when Ford Police Interceptor has a major redesign?

Guest LIVE from Dallas, TX wrote: Wednesday, June 6, 2007 - 9:25

Dallas still has a few random Caprices in services, one of which I saw the other day was an old 90-92 model with the old DPD graphics on it.

Going forward, Dallas PD's set to use the new V8 Impalas which it started putting into service this year.

It doesn't matter if a police car is weak on horsepower as long as the bad guy is caught. Most V6 power cars of today get the same amount of horsepower as they did in the 60s, 70s, and 80s.

Guest JOETEX1 wrote: Friday, May 25, 2007 - 23:31

RIGHT AND CHEVROLET MIGHT BE MAKING THERE WAY TOWARDS THE FORD MARKET WITHIN THE DALLAS POLICE FORCE SINCE FORD DROOPED DALLAS PD FROM THEIR FLEET SERVICE..

Guest DallasPD wrote: Tuesday, May 22, 2007 - 6:44

Don't forget their mid-1990's Chevy Camaros.

Guest LIVE from Dallas, TX wrote: Monday, May 21, 2007 - 19:15

To be real particular, Dallas uses MANY vehicles including:

Patrol:
05-07 Chevrolet Impala
05 Dodge Intrepid
05 and Older Ford Crown Victorias
94-96 Chevrolet Caprice (few still in service)
06 Chevrolet Tahoe

SWAT:
06 Chevrolet Tahoe
05 and Older Ford Crown Victorias

K9:
06 Chevrolet Tahoe
05 Ford Expedition
04-05 Ford Explorer

They also have a handful of Mid-90's F350 pick ups for mounted patrol, and a couple late 90's Ford Explorers are still in service as well.

Carry on.

Guest LIVE from Dallas, TX wrote: Monday, May 21, 2007 - 19:09

These vehicles were purchased for SWAT as well as patrol. SWAT officers wanted bigger vehicles, and they were accomodated because Chevy gave Dallas a deal in cleaning out surplus '06 Tahoe police vehicles......this made the bean counters happy.

Anonymous wrote: Monday, May 21, 2007 - 18:48

Wrong, Buckaroo. You can look at just about every police agency in the country and see that they have a variety of vehicle types for various situations. Such is the Tahoe in Dallas, they are for special functions, not patrol. In other words, they are used for SWAT.

So if you are going to pretend to be at all knowledgeable about police vehicles, talk in terms of "patrol units" and don't confuse them with special service vehicles.

Dallas uses THREE primary PATROL vehicles: CVPI, Impala AND the Intrepid. Apparently you haven't looked around through photos of copcar.com very much, there's photos of the Intrepids on the web site.

Guest Don wrote: Monday, May 21, 2007 - 18:37

I thought I read in the paper that DPD had ordered several dozen V6 Chargers. Haven't seen any around yet, tho.

Anonymous wrote: Monday, May 21, 2007 - 18:08

Now, Dallas Police Department have three different vehicles. There are Chevy Tahoes, Ford Police Interceptors, and Chevy Impalas. Nevertheless, I had not seen the Ford Expeditions and Dodge Chargers. Do Dallas Police Department have them?

Guest Garrett Heller wrote: Sunday, May 20, 2007 - 16:35

Actually you have those switched around. Dallas has moved primarily to Impalas and have very few Crown Vics. The Crown Vics in the back ground are the SWAT officers old cars.

Guest Garrett Heller wrote: Sunday, May 20, 2007 - 16:33

One of reasons that they got them said the sargent I talked to were that the SWAT officers needed something bigger than the Ford Crown Vics.
