I think he told his story "crossdraw" style

Guest Joe A wrote: Saturday, April 7, 2007 - 10:37

Is it just me or is the previous post told completely backward?

Guest galaxie guy wrote: Friday, April 6, 2007 - 20:07

Colorado state patrol also used to use the cross draw until an officer was killed after an escaped convict took the gun from a trooper after the trooper stopped to offer help to the convict who 's vehicle had broken down after escaping. He did not know he was contacting the convict.

1958 Ford

I always assumed it was a camera. WSP did a public safety radio show back then, maybe an early TV attempt? Looks to be a panel or wagon from how high the roof is.

One for the State, one for the county sheriff. This is according to a retired trooper.

is that an early style x-ray band radar ??

Guest jw wrote: Wednesday, December 6, 2006 - 0:22

This is actually very interesting. I knew there were departments that experimented with in car video in the early 70's but this looks to be in the 50's.

Was he moonlighting as the projectionist as the local drive-in?

That was for filtering the Mt. St. Helens ash. I think somebody put "water" on it as a joke.

Guest Jon wrote: Friday, August 12, 2005 - 23:29

Is that an engine cooling device because of "WATER" or is it the post St. Helens filer mod?

Greg,
Actually it's a '49-'51, by the rear fenders. The '53 was the first year to have two regular tail lights on the sedan delivery. The picture isn't clear enough to see the front to tell more. I'll bet a Chevy expert could tell by the hubcaps.

This place no longer exists, not sure where Fleet Services moved to. EMD moved up to Ft Lewis, it is now a Lowe's and part of a Safeway. The Olympia detachment is in a temp. facility in Tumwater

So ugly is it beautiful...lol A buddy of mine has a 62 Dart Max Wedge, now that is a cool car.

Guest Dan wrote: Friday, April 15, 2005 - 18:52

Of all the police cars I have seen in my short 50 years on this earth, this one is THE ugliest of them all!
