The fun of the comments section here at copcar.com is discussing the fine details of the cars in the photos.

Guest Jack wrote: Saturday, July 7, 2007 - 14:43

So we know details that let us know what specific year(s) the car is, so what? what's the problem with that? I'll admit, there have certainly been some useless comments posted and some, to say the least, weird discussion here on the site. But the guy had a question about what year this car was, so we helped him out. you guys, on the other hand, come along after the discussion is over and criticize without providing any useful information. If you don't like it, then don't get involved.

Oh yeah. They're for real. These dopes will carry on for weeks as if it really mattered and never figure out how stupid they sound. You should go back and read some of the older comments where they would get into arguments with each other. It always appears to be the same guys too. They have no social life outside of their computer room so they come here and leave moronic and meaningless comments under a picture of a police car.

are you people for real???

Guest jw wrote: Thursday, July 5, 2007 - 2:46

That is a good point that the car may have been involved in a crash and outfitted with replacement parts for a different model year. I remember a few years ago every time my dept would send a 99-00 CV to the body shop they always came back with a chrome replacement grill for a 98.

What difference does it make what year it is? Who cares?

Guest J.Stein wrote: Wednesday, July 4, 2007 - 18:27

Also the 88 was the onley year that the CV came with a wide trim strip at the bottom of the car that ran from the fromt to rear bumpers. The 1990 was the first year that the CV came with a drivers side air bag although you can't see it in this picture. I belive that these wheel covers didn't statr untill 1990 but you can't place to much stock in wheel covers because trans will replace them with whatever is around, if at all.

This is obviously a Plymouth Gran Fury (in script on the fender), but how can you tell what year it is? I think they pretty much looked the same externally from 1982 to 1985. 1986 to '89 cars had that little deck-mounted third brake light. Maybe a MOPAR freak here can enlighten us.

1984 , i think,,,i had an '84 as my first car.it was kinda cool or at least at 16 it was.

Guest Roy H. wrote: Wednesday, July 4, 2007 - 17:01

Thanks, JJ. I wrongly assumed it to be an '88 because of the two 1988 deputy chief cars the fire department ordered.

Oops. I don't know my Fords very well at all, but I do know my Chevys. It's funny that Philly has had their system of putting property numbers (with the first two digits being the model year) on every city-owned vehicle since roughly the early 1970s, but police cars didn't get that until about 2000 or so.

Guest JJ wrote: Wednesday, July 4, 2007 - 15:39

Im not sure about the turn signals but philly did not buy any cars in 1991. Its possible that the car was involved in an accident and they bought replacement parts.

Guest JJ wrote: Wednesday, July 4, 2007 - 15:37

Its a 1995 then...the 1997's have the property number written on the bumper and philly didnt purchase any in 1996.

Guest Jack wrote: Wednesday, July 4, 2007 - 14:46

It's a 1995-1997. The 1993-1994 had a grill with 3 horizontal bars running across, while the 95-97 only had 2 as seen above.

Guest Jack (the real one) wrote: Wednesday, July 4, 2007 - 14:44

Didn't the clear turn signals only come in 1991?

Guest jw wrote: Wednesday, July 4, 2007 - 13:25

As I pointed out you can easily tell a 92 because they did not have a chrome grill. 93-97 all looked the same in front. 93-94 had a red reflector that ran along the bottom of the trunk. 95-97 virtually looked the same on the exterior, however the 95's had the woodgrain finsh on the dashboard of the interior. 96-97 had no major differences.

There's nothing strange about the light bar, it is a high-riser. Elevates it and a traffic arrow board for traffic.

Guest JJ wrote: Wednesday, July 4, 2007 - 11:00

I believe this is a 1995 but it could possebly be a 94...I would have to see the backof the car.

Guest JJ wrote: Wednesday, July 4, 2007 - 10:58

Its a 1990. Philadelphia only purchased these models in 1990. From 85 until 89 they bought plymouths.
