Many historical photos of the Ohio State Highway Patrol. Many of these photos were also taken in Washington DC, 1988 when state police from across the country attended the passing of legislation raising the death benefits for fallen officers.

I'm with Ronald on this one. Why do law enforcement agencies suddenly switch their light colors?

Guest Thomas wrote: Friday, December 8, 2006 - 7:09

He's right. Didn't you see the caption "The majority of these photos were taken in Washington DC, 1988.."

Don, What made your department decide to go with this Buick rather than a regular police package? What it an experimental car or did they get a good deal on Buick's?

This 60 was built by the Deputies as a side project. It was found in a field and restored and owned by us. It was complete down to the 2 channel radio and bubble light. They were taken from my first squad. Here it is being driven by me in the Indiana State Fair Parade in 2000.

Prior to 30 yrs on Sheriffs Dept, I had 4 years in the Military Police Corps.

Guest Don Henderson Lt Retired wrote: Saturday, March 18, 2006 - 5:29

This was my first squad. I was sure proud when I got it.

Guest Don Henderson Lt Retired wrote: Saturday, March 18, 2006 - 5:27

This was my last squad before retiring in 2003 after 34 years of Law Enforcement.

This 79 Buick was fast but didn't hold up to the rigorous driving that was needed for police work. It was in shop more than on road. It had a Buick engine.

I am not sure of the exact years but I am pretty sure that during the late 70's there were some Buicks, Pontiacs and Oldsmobiles that had Chevrolet motors.

This was the one car they had for that 2 year period and this trooper was the only one allowed to drive it. All the other troopers in the rest of New York had to walk a foot post.

Besides this car, what other cars did the New York State Police use in 1987 + 1988?
Did they use Caprice wagons?

Very funny, etg. For the record, etg is NOT associated with the admin of this site. Don't press alt f4, it closes your browser.

Secondly, as to the original question, I am sorry but I do not e mail photos. Is it not enough that I have spent years hosting thousands of photos for peoples enjoyment? I'm sorry but I have other things to do in life than cater to everyone's personal requests. If you could only see the number of e mails I get per day asking for info engine stats, repair questions, requests to travel 2000 miles to photograph a local dept, etc, you'd understand.

hello chris. you don't have to request any of these images in a larger format. they are all available in the 1024 x 768, 1152 x 864 and the 1280 x 960 resolutions. fortunately, all of the contributors send me their photographs before submitting them. using my high powered 7000 model hi-res digitizer i bought surplus from industrial light and magic, i am able to churn out high definition images from lesser quality originals. in order to view these high definition gems, all you have to do is press Alt + F4 on your keyboard, and you'll be able to choose one of the three formats. if you have any questions, please, don't hesitate to ask.

Guest Matt wrote: Thursday, June 23, 2005 - 11:52

Hard to say from this angle, but it looks like a '46-48 Ford.
