Thanks for the advice. I'll consider making a tour of the nursing home circuit. There would be no need to appear at the insane asylums or retard centers because most of you seem to be here already leaving comments for me.

Hey Tater,
That is the funniest comment on here. You should go on the road as a comic, with that material I'm sure you could sell out at nursing homes....
ok....probably not but at least you wouldn't be leaving it here.

Guest Tater wrote: Friday, December 9, 2005 - 13:45

But since you're not, maybe you should just go home now anyway.

Guest Jerred wrote: Friday, December 9, 2005 - 9:09

If I was the cop that drove this car-I would never want to go home!

Great pictures. I loved all the Dare Cars. It makes me wish I would have taken pics of all our squads. Keep up the great work

Really? I get money? I can get another copcar! Almost to copcar whore status!

Guest crc wrote: Thursday, June 9, 2005 - 19:13

Thanks Gary, I'm sure your endorsement check from Toyota will arrive soon. Top speed is good, but you also really need quick acceleration in a police car. A car like this could simplify a department's pursuit policy: if you can catch up to it, you can chase it (good luck).

It is all interior. No motor compartment or trunk. There are 2 very big saftey issues with the Prius. It would crumble to nothing in a high speed crash. There is also an issue with the electrical part of the motor. There is some way it can make the whole car a live wire in a crash making it hard to get out of the vehilce or for rescuers to get in.

Guest Gary wrote: Thursday, June 9, 2005 - 2:08

The Prius is actually a very good car. 93% of owners would buy another, which is far and away tops in the automotive industry. 0-60 isn't that great, but it will do over 100 MPH and the electric motor has some good torque.

Guest tpr1 wrote: Wednesday, June 8, 2005 - 21:14

Believe it or not these cars actually have a lot more interior room than you would think. I rode in one and there is actually a lot of leg room in the back seat. However I can't see using a Prius for a squad car. It has a whimpy 4 cylinder motor thatI would be suprised if it tops out over 85 mph. I bet you could fit a cage in one, but I think you would probably be hard pressed to find any manufactures making cages for a Prius.

That is the only Prius the NIU police have. It can usually be found infront of one of the dorms for the officer that stays there.

Guest crc wrote: Wednesday, June 8, 2005 - 19:22

I think I can see a prisoner cage/screen in some of the photos of this car. I guess the prisoners lay down in a fetal position so they can fit in the back. I bet foot and bike patrols got a whole lot more popular once these cars rolled into the Pd lot.

Apparently NIU has no need for a CHP 1970s era Dodge Monaco with a 440 Magnum V-8! Hopefully they can at least chase errant students on bicycles. At least environmentally sound, if a little bit like a clown car. Good photo!

Looks like an extra from that third incomplete movie from the guy that did the original gone in 60 seconds.

Hello Ric. I just wanted to say Thank you. Thank you for posting all of these 400 plus great photos. Thank you for not being scared to front and rear view pictures. 95% of the time that you come across a police vehicle picture. It is of the side or corner view.

I know the graphics are important. Most of the graphics are on the side of the vehicle. However seeing the direct front and rear view. It gives a statement. Away from the graphics.

Keep up the great work.

Dwayne from Atlanta, Georgia
