Duh. The 1977 Dodge was only produced for one year: 1977

George- I am sure there were many, many States and Counties using the Green/White color scheme. We used the Green/White color combo in Santa Clara County at the Sheriff's Dept., beginning in 1972 on the Dodge Polara's. The last Green/White unit was in 1980 on the Dodge St. Regis. The Green was more of a Turqouise than the actual Green and was ugly. The Hub-caps with the holes I believe were just called the slotted hole type and the rims were also slotted to eliminate heat. These types I believe hit the market somewhere around 1975-76, but not for sure. I don't know when this photo was taken. 1974-78 was the Monaco run. 1979-80 were the only two years for the St. Regis. 1981 the Diplomat's were being used. I can't determine what the value of the 77-78 Monaco's would be, but they are still popular and reasonably priced depending on condition. The last 440 motor used was on the 78 Monaco and for Police production only. The 360 hit the streets in 1979. Hope this info helps

Tony- Did you or someone else take this picture of the 71 S/O Polara? I did purchase this car, or again, an exact duplicate of an authentic Santa Clara Co. S/O patrol vehicle.

FYI, it's a Santa Clara Co. Sheriff's unit...not a Santa Cruz PD unit.

I remember these cars growing up in Santa Clara County especially the 71 Polara's of the Santa Clara County Sheriff's Office. This photo was apparently taken on the hill at the County Communications Dept. if memory serves me right. I currently work for the Santa Clara Co. S/O and may have stumbled across this exact car or one very similiar. Working on trying to purchase to do a full restore. Already have a restored 71 CHP Polara and this S/O unit would be a nice addition.

This is a Pontiac Le-Mans police car which was only availible to police for only two years 1976 and 1977. It was powered by a 400 cubic inch V-8 with a four barrel Carb. Many were used and destroyed in the 1977 film Smokey and the Bandit.

Guest Tony Sollecito wrote: Wednesday, October 1, 2003 - 19:00

Actually, it is from the Riverside County (CA) Sheriff's Department. The picture was taken in 1986 so it is probably closer to a 84 or 85 model.

This is a 1982-85 chevrolet Impala patrol cruiser from the San Luis Obispo County California Sheriff's Department

Wow, this pic brings back a flood of memories. That Monterey County S.O. unit is parked at the old county jail in Salinas. I grew up in that area and haven't seen a picture of a tan car in years and years. They changed the rotators to blue in the mid-70's before they swithced their colors to green and white by the end of the decade. They use black and white now (like everybody!).

Border patrol or PD crusier?

San Diego County, CA Sheriff's Department.

Guest Tony Sollecito wrote: Wednesday, May 28, 2003 - 10:26

This was actually a very typical setup for 1974. The most difficult item to find now for a restoration is the Adamson Industries Adabar that the lights were mounted to.

Guest Glenn wrote: Wednesday, May 21, 2003 - 23:46

1970 cars in California did have an amazing array of light set-ups. This car has a lot of lights compared to others like LAPD. Very cool pictures here.

Guest Glenn wrote: Wednesday, May 21, 2003 - 23:42

While California cars are steeped in tradition (black and white, red steady burn lamp), they were also almost boring back in the day

Guest colin wrote: Tuesday, April 15, 2003 - 19:41

WHAT IS THE MAKE, MODEL, AND YEAR OF THIS VEHICLE?
************************************
That is a Plymouth Gran Fury from between 1982 and 1989. The vehicle remained cosmetically unchanged for all 8 model years.
