Actually, car guy, the SS version isn't too far off. I had one as a U/C car and it ripped! Geting in an out with a duty rig on posed problems, though.

The good news is that the push-bumper is totally usable.

Guest Mike W. wrote: Saturday, April 15, 2006 - 18:32

Needs more LEDs...

Guest Mike W. wrote: Saturday, April 15, 2006 - 18:28

I agree that it's cool as far as the royal blue paint goes, but would someone please tell these PD's that the generic graphics are soulless and boring?!? Cars look the same from Maine to Arizona these days.

Guest Mike W. wrote: Saturday, April 15, 2006 - 18:24

I think he meant "riding around in the back of one of these" during the riots...

Guest Mike W. wrote: Saturday, April 15, 2006 - 18:18

Well, I can tell you that this cannot possibly be authentic. A police car in Compton, CA WITHOUT any bullet holes?!? Doubtful.

YUCK!!

actually it's a PONTIAC so it's not a Rice burner

Nice Mustang pursuit vehicle
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
John, it's nothing fancy. Just a regular production car. Same as anyone else can buy. There haven't been any official "pursuit" (police) Mustangs since 1993.
i believe its an 87-90 caprice judging by the mirrors. i think its a clone.
Guest etg wrote: Thursday, January 19, 2006 - 9:13
no, it's not an 85. seriously, "anonymous," using a dictionary every once in a while wouldn't hurt you at all. and what makes you think he drives it around over there? the car has to be registered, don't you think? takes you back to the bad times...sheesh...
Anonymous wrote: Tuesday, January 17, 2006 - 19:17
Is this a 1985 police car are what
Guest phil.henning wrote: Monday, January 16, 2006 - 19:56
Totally agree. I had some CHP officers in my Reserve AF SP unit at Travis AFB, CA (Fairfield) l993-1996, they also called the steady red spot, "the ruby." The slicktop CHPS remain classics. This is a fine example.
Guest Phil Henning wrote: Monday, January 16, 2006 - 19:52
Well done! The modern classic CHP unit, complete with steady red "ruby" light and tall whip antenna. Spent a few years in CA in my military career, l970s and l990s, and knew a few CHP'rs. Their cars are plain but effective--ah yes, the CHP black and white. Earlier CHP cars didn't have tinted glass, deleted carpeting, beige steering wheel to deflect heat and A/C compressor shut off switch for either pursuits or climbing the Grapevine on a hot summer day. A no frills rider.
Got it changed and moved to the right album. Thanks.
You should do some research because there are several states that have both.
The (I think) Verdugo station of the C.H.P. had a camaro like the one above. Then again, they got to evaluate alot of the test vehicles like the toyota camry, volvo, camaro, etc. The ststion is located just off the 210 freeway at the Windsor offramp in north Pasadena, Ca.
Guest officer Dan wrote: Sunday, November 20, 2005 - 20:55
ONE SHARP CAR!!! I always did like the C.H.P. cars in their simplicity and traditionalism. One red light to the front and an amber in the back window. The one I drove had a red lightbar but I always liked that red spotlight. Used to call it the "Deathray".
As it says above, the California State Police no longer exists. It was pretty much sucked in by the CHP and all of the responsibilities that the state police had were given to the CHP. You can go to the CHP website to find out more about this merging.
What was the difference between the California State Police and the California Highway Patrol? I have never heard of a state having both a state police and highway patrol.
