What company makes this awful looking product?

Guest hulloh wrote: Sunday, April 30, 2006 - 23:40

This is stupid. There's gotta be a better way to realize such a concept.

Guest Tater wrote: Sunday, April 30, 2006 - 19:22

HHR, SSR, SST, XYZ, PDQ, etc. Actually, it's ugly and another poor attempt by GM at trying to jump on the the coat tails of another manufacturer's sale success.

Guest Pete wrote: Sunday, April 30, 2006 - 18:50

Actually, its the Chevy HHR.....not the SSR.....

Guest Ferris Bueller wrote: Sunday, April 30, 2006 - 18:12

well, if you've never seen one in Tex ass, then it must not be real...

Guest Phil Dorsett wrote: Sunday, April 30, 2006 - 17:45

That's ridiculous. Never seen one of those here in Texas.

It is still in the testing (last I heard), FHP is in a partner ship with Code-3 equipment and in adition to what Ano. said the officer can override the sensor to make the bar flash what ever color. It is supposed to be used incase the sensor is not reading the day/night thing right; IE if it is foggy or other conditions, maybe smoke from a large fire making the sky dark.

Also this unit is a BCSO Highway Patrol unit. It is used to patrol the highways, similar to the NYPD Highway Patrol units.

Is a Hi-Riser bar, mostly used in high traffic areas, it will aleart a driver sooner as they will see the lightes over the other vehciles in traffic that having a big SUV in front of you change lanes, and next thing you know your lane is blocked.

NYPD has them on almost all of their Highway Patrol units. It look like this one is the newer LED version, and it is also on an 06 CVPI (hubcaps)

Chevy SSR, not a PT Cruiser.

Guest david wrote: Tuesday, April 18, 2006 - 7:39

i think they should start makin more unmarked cars and trucks

Guest jw wrote: Monday, February 6, 2006 - 19:56

Are all the FHP cruisers being fitted with these LED bars or are some them still getting the Federal Vision bar. I would think these LED bars that can sense the time of day and weather are quite expensive.

Anonymous wrote: Monday, February 6, 2006 - 14:26

All of the new FHP LED bars include both red and blue LEDs. The bars have a sensor that determines the time of day, then combined with whether the vehicle is in motion or not, determines if the bar flashes all red, all blue, or a combination. I think that if it's daylight and the vehicle is stopped, it flashes all red. If it's night and it's stopped, it flashes all blue. If the vehicle is in a pursuit, it flashes red and blue regardless of the time of day.

Mildly interesting, but FHP's buying some of these bars in an all red configuration and some are in all blue........I'm actually kind of curious if this particular model light bar has some sort of built in "color selector" of sorts.

Guest GPD3 wrote: Friday, January 13, 2006 - 21:13

I think that the extra lights behind the lightbar are not any good. Thye do provide for safety by getting the earning in the air, but I see that in bRoward Co. most calls are not going to be in major traffic for loing periods of time. If they were then I could see the use for the vertical lightbar.

Ahoj.Nuže moc pìkné policejní auto.Škoda že u nás v Czech Rep.nejsou :-( Goodbye.....

Which translates to:

"...Ahoj.Nuže sway niceness shelf auto.Škoda that with upstairs within Czech Rep.nejsou..."

I am beginning to think those free online translation sites aren't all they're cracked up to be.

I love this picture because sports cars should be part of the police community.
