I found a photo on-line of a new GSP Charger. It has the older 1970s-style orange lettering, not gold. I will be in Atlanta next month and I will get my own photos and add them to my pages here at CCdC.

Actually its the 2006 Fords that have the new gold lettering. The 2005s still had white. It looks like GSP is going retro and switching back to the gold lettering that they had prior to the mid 80s.

Same here, JD

Their new Chargers have gold lettering and I have seen 2005 Crown Vics with gold lettering.

Calling out the site owner... that's a new one!

Guest jw wrote: Thursday, September 14, 2006 - 5:30

They went back to the orange this year.

Guest Greg wrote: Thursday, September 14, 2006 - 0:31

Georgia State Patrol used to have ORANGE lettering up until the mid 80s when they switched over to white. Since then I haven't seen any other color than white. Where have you seen gold?

Guest JD wrote: Wednesday, September 13, 2006 - 22:53

Does anyone know why some GSP cruisers have gold lettering and others, like above, have white? Do ranking officers have the gold and the regular troopers have the white, or what?

Dave, I don't know if you are a cop, or just a wanna-be, but I have been one for 19 years. "Alley lights" are just what they are called. There are no alleys on a highway? Gee no kidding, but the side lights are good for checking cars that your passing or checking a shoulder or woods for someone or something. The take downs can't even cut through window tint. The post mounted spotlight is a must. I don't know why you have to be so sarcastic to people who visit your site and make comments. I suspect that your just a jealous wanna-be dork.

APD did a nice job with their new colors, graphics, and LEDs.

Guest JD wrote: Tuesday, September 12, 2006 - 16:15

I'll second that motion. Also, it's harder to clean the brake dust that builds up on the vents of the plastic ones.

Guest Dennis Garcia wrote: Tuesday, September 12, 2006 - 15:27

2005 looks better to me with the black wheels, the plastic full wheel covers on the 2006 look cheap !!

Guest jw wrote: Thursday, June 15, 2006 - 21:04

I know this year they bought both Fords and Dodges.

Anonymous wrote: Wednesday, June 14, 2006 - 9:22

GA State Patrol had driven Ford for more than a decade. However, I hear that the GA State patrol could switch from Ford to Dodge, which is faster than Ford. Will the GA State Patrol keep buying both Ford and Dodge?

Thank you for that boys.. greatly apreciated

Take down lights in no way replace the spotlight. I drove a cruiser for about a year that didn't have a spotlight and the take downs just didn't cut it. Cruisers need to have both.

Smokey and the Bandit...

Probably. There are several pictures of the Conn car at the Police Car web site.

You are correct its is not very popular. As a guest commented Georgia and Kentucky used it on a trial basis. I am fairly sure Minnesota is no longer using it I am not sure about Connecticut. Certain people will start arguments about anything. So we might as well move onto the next topic. By the way here is a picture of a Connecticut cruiser with Fast Trax.http://members.fortunecity.com/statepdcars/conn100.jpg

Your link doesn't work so I'm afraid this burning topic will be forced to continue now, right?
