George, again, stop. You aren't even in Iowa. You are in Nebraska.

"george", did I not tell you to find somewhere else to play? Now you are trying to make us believe you are an Iowa trooper?

William,

Troopers drive their old units to the fleet headquarters in Des Moines and turn them in them selfs when they get their new cars. I like the new cars too. At first they took a little to get use to, but now I like em.

Thanks for these good shots of this new unit Chad Weaver. Very nice. Do the troopers there keep the old unit they had till they transfer there stuff into the new and a fleet or motor pool place picks the old one up? Noticed the old unit in the drive way in the first picture.

ETG,

From what I understand the plate number is the same as the Troopers badge number. All Iowa Sheriffs and Troopers are assigned a take home car and I do believe at least with the Troopers thats how the cars are numbered.

interestng. yeah, the black doesn't stick out like some of the crazy reflective stuff some departments use. the local pd here uses a red and white reflective stripe on the bumper (like the stuff used on tractor trailers). it doesn't look that bad, but that black reflective stuff looks like it would work better. does the number on the tag correspond with the unit number?

All Iowa Patrol sheriff and City patrol cars are all ethanol powered..after all we are the corn state..yes new for 2007 started in late 2006 octoberish all state patrol cars now have the black reflective material to make them stand out like JD mentioned..even all the lettering is reflective.

Guest JD wrote: Saturday, December 16, 2006 - 16:49

That's what it looks like. Nice use of the black reflective material over-all. It enhances officer safety at night, but its not overpowering to the scheme like the yellow black European checkering that I've seen on other patrol cars.

i see this is an ethanol powered cvpi. i'm curious, what are those black "patches" above the pi badge and the opposite side? are they reflective material like the stuff on the bumper?

When trimming the pic the lightbar was cut off..if you look at the previous photo of the side of the car you can see the lightbar..
