Troopers Trojacek and Aguirre, out of Schulenburg in Fayette County, had one of the black units in around 1999. Haven't see one in the last couple of years.

I don't know if the Impalas I've seen are '06s, but I saw one on Texas 29 in Williamson County on a vehicle stop, and I always see one parked at the Weatherford office

Got passed not too long ago by one of the Tahoes (in background) on I-45 south of Dallas. What DPS branch drives them?
Thanks. Love the site!

MOST POLICE UNITS FACTORY MAKE EMBLEMS ARE REMOVED-LIKE THE FORD EMBLEM ON THE POLICE INTERCEPTOR(CROWN VICTORIA)DUE IN PART BECAUSE THEY UBSTRUCKT THE POLICE GRAPHIC ON THE TRUNK AND JUST LIKE THE GRAPHIC STATETING STATE TROPPER ON THE D.P.S.UNITS

HOW MANY GRAPHIC DESIGNS DOES HOUSTON P.D. HAVE FOR THEIR UNITS?

Guest JOETEX wrote: Tuesday, July 18, 2006 - 5:20

DODGE IN THE NEW HEMI CHARGER HAS A NEW SYSTEM CALLED M.D.S. MUTI DISPLACEMENT SYSTEM..THIS SYSTEM WORKS THE MOTOR AS A V6 BUT WHEN THE SYSTEMS COMPUTER DETECTS IT NEEDS MORE POWER THE MOTOR WILL WORK ALL COMPLETE AS A V8 HEMI

I believe that the TX DPS has several Chevy Tahoes. The engine is more powerful than the 2006 Chevy Impala. The engine is also slightly more powerful than V6 Dodge charger and Ford Police Interceptors. Although the TX DPS has some Chevy Tahoes, has the TX DPS bought 2006 Chevy Impalas?

I must say that this is the patrol unit I have been looking for the Texas DPS to to put into fleet for a couple of months and it is finally here. I am among many who are extremely happy to see these 2006 Dodge Charge pics. Congradulations to the Texas DPS (Texas Highway Patrol) and to the Troopers that get to drive the bad boys. Have fun and be safe patrolling our roadways.

Yeah, it's got a HEMI!!!

some city's in colorado are going with the V6 based on if they have any highways going through their city. The decision is based on cost of the vehicle and theprice ofgas. The V6 has been reported as being fast enough for regular police duty in alot of citys. sheriff depts. are going for the V8 for the open road and long distance calls.

I know the Phoenix Police Department (Arizona) still uses the 1991 Caprices as school resource officer units. They also still use the 1994-1996 Chevy Caprices for patrol.

I would think a state agency would order the V-8 Hemi.

Guest JD wrote: Wednesday, July 5, 2006 - 8:55

Hey, easy there! Some of us drove those cruisers when they were new!

Anonymous wrote: Tuesday, July 4, 2006 - 19:54

Is this V8 or V6? I speculate that TX DPS may use both Ford Police Interceptors and Dodge Charger. Anyway, many Police departments in the U.S. picks Hemi over V6 when they purchase Dodge Charger.

Let me tell you- every Trooper in the State of Texas has been nippin' at the heals just to get a peek at this baby! These two bad boys just hit Fleet last week. It's kool to see these pics up so quick. Thank you whoever you are!

Lots of fleet vehicles have gotten delivered w/o emblems attached. It's in case the graphics would be interferred with. I've seen cars at auction that still had the emblems in the glove box.

I think the Texas DPS Chargers look really nice. I don't see the Dodge or Charger names on the trunk anywhere and makes me wonder why they took them off. Is there even a factory option to do that?
