these are housing authority police cars, not city cruisers from the el paso police department. housing authorities operate on a significantly strained budget and usually take hand-me-downs from other municipal departments. it looks like they at least have new cars in el paso. housing authority police have limited areas of patrol, so they wouldn't put too much strain on the ford focus.

no, JRF, they're not admin cars, they're actual units patrolling the highway and used for all of the other services (drivers license, license and weight, etc.). there aren't that many in south texas, and i've only seen one highway patrol unit in central texas.

however, to answer the rest of your question, no, the entire fleet isn't going to be intrepids, since the intrepid is no longer a police vehicle. the fleet is going to be crown vics and probably dodge chargers, although i'm not sure about the latter.

Are these admin cars or is the new entire fleet going to be Intrepids?

Isn't everything supposed to be bigger in Texas?

Isn't this the second time they change their graphics in ten years? Still, its my favorite so far.

I can just imagine the look on people's faces when they see this thing on the streets.

I don't care how cool the new graphics are, I am still in love with the classic blue I have grown up with. The "Baby Blues" are becoming harder to find these days around houston, but every now and then you can find one. i give the camera man, and the photo an A++ :)

This is a Harris County unit, probably one of the last caprices left in the fleet. It still carries the pre 1998 graphics. it also apears to be parked outside the Wallisville Rd. Office (dist-3) where my girlfriends dad is assigned

My girlfriend's dad is a Harris County Deputy. the console layout is almost identical to his, the switch panel is the same. however, the Federal siren is the only difference, harris county typicaly uses Whelen's. the laptop is the same as well as the Motorola 800Mhz Trucking head unit. this also appears to be a Chevy Lumina, which the office took delivery of after G.M. did away with the Caprice 9c1 line, in early 1997. the department bought the Lumina between 1998 and 2000, afterwards they began to buy 2001 and up Impallas. the department also uses Crown vics, Tahoes, ford vans, chevy h.d. pickups (for boat towing and dive teams)suburbans and they still have some reliable caprices around.
