If I'm not mistaken, I believe this is a Land Rover Discovery.

It's unmarked car not a ghost one!

"Ghost car" is a slang term for an unmarked police car in Canada

Guest S. McChoogie wrote: Wednesday, October 11, 2006 - 12:55

These graphics are more commonly known as "stealth graphics." From what I can tell, this car does not have any graphics on them, thus this appears as if it's an unmarked vehicle. San Antonio, Texas, police use them on what they call "road rage" cars. Austin police also use them on some of their highway enforcement cars. The Texas DPS does not use "stealth" graphics on their Highway Patrol vehicles, or any of their cars, so I'm not sure what state agencies JOETEX is referring to.

Ghost graphics are barely visable in the day light and are reflective at night.

Guest Joe A wrote: Tuesday, October 10, 2006 - 16:29

"Ghost" is a term that was used in my area in the 50s & 60s to describe any un-marked copcar. I don't know how you came to insert graphics into this. For example, a PD near me always had gray cars, the one unmarked car was always called the Gray Ghost.

Guest JOETEX wrote: Tuesday, October 10, 2006 - 6:25

ARE THEY THE REAL GHOST GRAPHICS OR IS THIAS UNIT JUST UNMARKED AND THATS HOW THE CALL THEM...?BECUSE YOU CAN SEE THE OUT LINES OF THE REAL GHOST GRAPHICS ...SAN ANTONIO TEXAS POLICE HAS THOSE ALONG WITH VARIOUS POLICE AND STATE AGENICIES..THERE MAINLY USE FOR AGGRESIVE DRIVER DETAIL...ON TEXAS HIGHWAYS

That's their term when they submitted the photo to us.

this helicopter belongs to the Department of Natural Resources, not Springhill Police

and so be it. But this is copcar dot com and the cars are from Springhill. If it were helicopter dot com, maybe we would have listed this photo as the DNR agency.

no problem, tater, it's just that some people take personal attacks to the extreme, and although we poke fun, there's a line...and people forget the purpose is to discuss the copcars, not start a flaming war.

mitch, if you want to attack people on the comments section, i suggest you email whomever it is you have problems with and take it there. if you don't want to take my suggestion, i would recommend you not use profanity on the board, the comments on these fotki pages were just recently turned back on, i doubt very much you'd want to lose this outlet of letting people know of canadian superiority. oh, and by the way, it's we're not hated by every ******* nation in the world, not WE'E not hated by every ******* nation in the world. and besides, of course the united states is hated and canada isn't. that's the price you pay for being the most powerful nation in the world.

Guest Mitch wrote: Monday, January 16, 2006 - 18:16

my cousin got this car when it was brand new in 2004 he says he hates the high riser on it because its a highway/traffic unit. high riser makes the car easily spotted so it gets kind of boring.

Not sure if readers are aware, this fine piece of history including the 1941 cruiser is part of a HUGE collection of O.P.P. artifacts located at the O.P.P. headquartes in Orillia, Ontario. It's open all year long and will take you all day to check out everything. Well worth the visit !!

hi i live in hamilton and that wirlybird is gone thank god it used to fly around at all hours; close to the rooftops bothering the people it was a good idea; but not for a redneck /bluecollar town like this one. the noise would scare the beer drinker when he was to take a sip and as such would spill it on his/her shirt regards.........
