    If that kind of car is driving behind you and that red light is flashing (and possibly siren and blue lights are also on) it means that you must stop and wait something not so nice from the cops. So it is a "stop-light". Nowadays those lights are situated on roof. Picture of light panel:

    you guys are killin me. steady burn red lights are common everywhere.... its that only way you can get a truly uninterrupted signal to the front of the vehicle.

    The red light on the side is a colored strobe light
    if it is a light. Who knows it might be a merior
