Yeah, thanks to the guy who restored it. But then the new owner went and goofed the car up by adding the two lights on the package tray, which is incorrect. If the CHP cars had lightbars, they did not get the deck lights put on.

Next he'll be putting 911 stickers all over it.

Yeah, I get it. Image is the most important aspect of law enforcement.

Thats the problem with a lot of cops these days and the general public for matter. Image is much more important that results. As long as the local PD is equipped with Dodge Chargers, it doesn't matter if crime is up or not, because at least the cops look cool.

Why Not? Because your department's image is conveyed by: #1 your officers appearance & attitude, #2 the vehicles the agency drives. A bean counter may not understand this 'emotional' type answer, but cops and the most of public get it.

Why not?

If a minivan accomplishes the task that its intended for, I see no reason why a PD has to run out and buy a "cool" looking car to do the same task.

This van belongs to a the recruiting division. They most likely needed something large enough to carry recruiting teams or promotional items to job fairs and the like. No need for a Charger, or CVPI or Impala for that matter.

Yes, this is the original Polara that was found in a wrecking yard in Ronan, MT, by Gary Herfert of Washington in 2003. Gary called me on it, I asked specific questions which he answered and once the VIN was put into the system, it was confirmed as an original SCCSO unit. The vehicle was also equipped with the original Ivory White Steering Wheel, which will be restored in the near future. Other than that, it's genuine.

1971 Dodge Polara- w/383 motor

I am the sole owner of this car. This is a work in progress restoration and not complete.

The interior seats are re-upholstered with the original fabric. The vehicle has period correct emergency lighting, Motorola control-head, speaker and mike, along w/solenoid operated shotgun rack.

This car is an original Santa Clara County Sheriff’s Patrol Car, not a clone! It was used to patrol the streets of Santa Clara County. I have all the paperwork and photos to prove it.

It needs a push bar and other small details to make it complete. I don’t have a sponsor and money is always an issue, but I’ll get it done.

Thanks for your interest
Mark

That all depends on the department who used it. Whether a car has pushbars or not depends on a department's preferences. The CHP used front pushbars on their polara's, maybe you confused this car for a CHP car.

I thought most of the Polara's and Fury's had front push-bars.
