Remembering 9-11-01.
We will not forget!

New Castle County, DE   RSS
The New Castle County, DE, Police fully equipped 32 cruisers, including NOPD markings and shipped them to their brothers in New Orleans. Not only that, but officers, civilian employees and county paramedics got together and filled the trunks with much needed supplies for officers. What an act of kindness and a display of brotherhood! Photos contributed by Al Wysock, NCCPD.

Who cares what light bars they have on them, the only thing that matters is that the NCCPD did a great thing by giving these cars to the NOPD...

As a member of the Law enforcement Community in the parish of orleans. (New Orleans)
I would like to thank the officers from New Castle County, for there support and to let them know that the units are still in use.

you werent one ofthem ones that fled in a NOPD cruiser to a out of state area are you? We got one here in NM and he tried to sell a NOPD car. of course stuff was removed for easy sell but alk about corruption beyond belief. Next thign you know Manzo will say "there striving to make ends meet with money" To me only heroes are the ones who stayed and saved others.

Its nice to know so many people care about the NOPD. As I am working to become a police officer and two of my relatives are in law enforcement. Its makes me look foward to serving my community. GREAT JOB!

they have the wrong lightbars? what in the hell are you babbling about? i swear, the powers that be should seriously consider turning off the comments on these pages again. it would be a pity not to post here, but it would be a small price to pay to not be able to see the mindless moronic comments made by these bumbling retards. the wrong lightbars, i love these graphics, these graphics suck...why is that garbage truck wearing police markings...my God...

There's only one problem, they have the wrong lightbars. Still, better than not having cars at all.

I was wondering, they used from the NC fleet then shipped there to NOPD or were they ordered new and then sent? Very great that they did this!

New Castle County Executive Chris Coons heard about what New Orleans PD needed and immediately approved getting the cars and trunks together. He showed up on loading day and stuffed a few final trunks with work boots before he drove one of the finished New Orleans vehicles over to be placed on the car carrier.

New Castle County Public Safety, which includes Communications, Emergency Management, Paramedics, Police, and Crossing Guards, all stuffed trunks for New Orleans. It was a great opportunity to feel like we could really make an individual difference in the lives of Officers at NOPD.

B Squad really got into the spirit and stuffed four trunks with gear for New Orleans PD.

Guest Bill wrote: Thursday, September 15, 2005 - 6:49

A lot of New Castle County employees bought and brought items on their lunch break to "Stuff the Trunks". When the four loaded car-carriers, under NCCPD escort, started on their journey to New Orleans, these same employees came out from the Government Center for another great show of support.

Guest Bill wrote: Thursday, September 15, 2005 - 6:46

Patrol Squads sponsored trunks and wanted to send a message of support to our Brothers and Sisters in New Orleans. Contributers signed the trunk decks to provide that one-to-one connection. Each squad also placed a team picture in the trunk with all the gear we could squeeze in.

Point People make it happen. Josie organized donations from her squad and went to the local military supply store and bought out the shelves. After only a couple hours of sleep and coming off Midnight tour, she hung out most of the day to lend a hand with receiving other donations.

The program was called "Stuff the Trunks" and over three days, New Castle County employees obtained and provided over $15,000 in items specifically for the New Orleans Police Department. Items included BDU's, Work shirts, Boots, Socks, Bottled Water, Sun Screen, and Bug repellent.

School Children from around the state, and in this case a Lieutenants Child, made cards for the Officers in New Orleans. These cards were placed in all 32 vehicles that were sent.

Guest Bill wrote: Wednesday, September 14, 2005 - 17:37

All 32 vehicles arrived in New Orleans the afternoon of Thursday the 15th and were delivered to the NOPD at the Convention Center. The equipment can be put directly to good use by our fellow officers who lost almost everything but are working hard to bring order in this devastated city. Many thanks to everyone at NCC who made it possible!

That was an awesome thing to do! Those crusiers appear to be '97 Crown Vics, but they look virtually brand new. Great job on the light bar and graphics, too!!
