I couldn't agree more. i always hoped a late model Ford PI would come out.....I know there are several in diecast, but I'd like one without the 4 inch door gaps and better body contouring like Lindburgs 95-97 model...and even though everyone who's driven one says the new Impala is a hunk of junk, I wouldn't mind seeing a legitimate STYRENE kit of it.........if memory serves, wasn't it a modelers campain that prompted Lindburg to release the 95-97 CV?...Off the topic of copcars........I would love to get my hands on a 1972 Los Angeles County Squad 51 kit.......I kitbashed the "LIL RED TRUCK " into one, but it just isn't the same...........

i got news from a friend that amt is talking about re-releasing the dodge monaco police car sometime this summer. when don't know and my source is pretty good. he test bulids new kits for amt and built the lil red express and the '70 pro street super bee that were just relased this spring. if you are looking for something a little newer amt has relased the robo cop taurus. the monaco may come out as the joker goon car agian or with hazzard county decals.

In my opinion, this tired old inaccurate model has lived its life and it's time for AMT/ERTL to let it go. They should consider a new tooling of something that hasn't been done yet like a C-body '74-77 Dodge or a fullsize square body Ford or Chevy from the late 70s/early 80s. The Taurus model was a joke. The only thing that made it a police car was the stickers. Other than that it was an upscale SHO version of the Taurus that was never used for police service and didn't have the correct stock parts.

This was built from an AMT 1:25 scale 1978 Dodge Monaco police car kit. I cut the header panel off and replaced it with one from a 1976 Roadrunner to change it into a 1976 Fury. The Monaco kit is out of production, but they can be found on Ebay.
