Just a bit of info. The NYC POLICE graphics were experimental and didn't come along until 1993. In the end, they went back to the NYPD POLICE graphics.

I dont think it had a FSC Aerodynic lightbar.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
It's not an Aerodynic. Not even close. It's a JetStrobe. Make me a 1/25 scale LED bar and I'll install it.
eccezionale molto realistico, purtroppo impossibile da realizzare per noi europei, manca la materia prima. ciao, Luciano
Yes I am defentily going to have to cut it to make it fit. It is going to decorated as a 87-90 ISP car. I will get you a picture.
I just got this kit. It dosen't have a frame. I have some Revell 91 Caprice kits would you suggest using a frame from those or do you know of something that would work better?
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
The recommended chassis to complete this kit is the one from the Revell Caprice, although I had trouble making it fit and ended up cutting it up and only using the front and rear portions to support the rear axle and front suspension.

Good luck with it and make sure to send a photo of your finished model so it can be included here on the page.

Chimneyville has a Force 4 bar that is similar I think I could make work. However the Force 440 kit is the only place I have found the bar. I am going to see if I can make the bar myself possibly. I am sure 20 years ago those Force 440 kits were a dime a dozen but as you probably know they go for about $35.00 nowadays. I do I send you pics? I have several models I would like to send you pics of.

I ordered this model to make an ISP car with. I will need this lightbar to make it look authentic. The only place I have ever found one is in a MPC Dodge Force 440 kit. Do you know where I could come up with one without buying an entire kit.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
This lightbar also came from that same Force440 kit. I bought two of them about 20 years ago just for the lightbars. Now I believe Chimneyville makes a resin version, but I don't remember it being all that good.
Good luck and make sure to send us a picture of your Chevy model when it's finished.
Thanks Greg
I ended up using the clear plastic TAXI sign that goes on the roof of Revell Caprice Taxi kit. It worked out great.
I am building an MSP car from a Whely Crown Vic kit. I got the graphics from Chimneyville. What would you recommend using to make the stop sign on the hood?
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~

You can use any thin piece of clear plastic for the plexiglass and for the frame I just used parts cut off of pushbumpers and other unused parts that were in the right shape to do the job.

Revell monogram will be releasing a snap kit of the Impala in 1/24th scale in Feb.2005 and they say it is a 2004 year.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Since there haven't really been any visible changes in the Impala since it came out the model could really be anything between a 2000 and an '05 and no one would know.
I would like to make a kit like this with Illinois State Police graphics. Could you verify if the ISP ever used any these Chevy's. The only place I have seen one is on the Blues Brothers right as there going in the Richard Daily Center toward the end. Was that an actual ISP car or was it just used for the movie. I know the Dodges in the movie were used ISP cars.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
I'm not a state police expert. They COULD have used the 75 Belair. They used all different makes and models of cars back then.
It's only a plastic model. Go ahead and make it ISP!

Thanks Greg

I found them at that site. It probably wouldn't be hard to make the stripes. I was more concerened about finding the door shield and trunk decal.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
The door shield and trunk letters are both on the Chimneyville decals set.
I have built an ISP car similar to this from this kit. I am also planning to make an ISP car of a Dodge Monoco from an AMT Joker Goon kit. I bought some graphics from a company in Georgia when I tried to put them on they came all apart. The company told me the graphics aren't printed anymore. Do you know of any place I may find some good ISP graphics for the cars.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Fred Cady was the only one who made the thinner double-striped ISP decals. Those are hard to find. You could also get several sets of the Chimneyville decals for years where they had one thicker stripe like in 1991 and then trim them down to the right width. Chimneyville decals are available almost everywhere.-Try www.policecarmodels.com They have them there.

Thanks for the info. I am suprised they even allow any blue lights on emergency vehicles at airports in that case.

Greg

Could you elaborate on this rule about emergency vehicles needing red lights if they operate on roadways and taxiways utilized by FAA sanctioned aircraft.
++++++++++++++++++++
Sure. It's very simple. Runway guide lights and taxiway lights are blue. At night after a landing all a pilot focuses on are the blue lights that guide his path to the gate. If an emergency vehicle had only blue lights on it, there is a pretty good chance that a pilot might not be able to distinguish the blue lights on the vehicle from the blue lights of the taxiway, making the warning lights on the vehicle ineffective. With a combination of blue/red lights, the pilots are more apt to notice the police vehicle if it has to be out where the moving aircraft are.

if this is an airport unit it is suposed to have red and blue lights if not it looks great
**************
Thanks for your expert critique, Mr Anonymous...

So you're saying I can't even take a photo of a plastic model car at an airport unless it has red lights? The caption does not indicate it's an airport car, does it? While on duty I often end up at O'Hare Airport. Am I not allowed to go there because my squad car only has blue lights?

The red light rule applies only to emergency vehicles that in the course of their regular assignment may have to operate on roadways and taxiways that are also utilized by FAA sanctioned aircraft. In other words, out on the TARMAC with the airplanes.
