See previous photo for my "model" of this car.

Guest Bruno wrote: Friday, April 14, 2006 - 11:21

I made that car (and similar ones) back in the 1960's when I was in my teens. It's brush painted- couldn't spray paint in the apartment. The "decals" were made with a Dymo label maker, the door shield was hand drawn and cut from a white adhesive label. There were no commercial decals, or graphics tools like color copiers or computers back then. It was this or nothing. I'm glad I saved it. There was a "door post" between the front and rear doors at one time but it disappeared over the years.

And Frank, thanks for the compliment. One of the reasons I submitted it was to encourage others to get started modeling even if their skills are not good or for people to show off their oown first efforts. As far as being close, it's accurate. Just missing an antenna.

the mcdermott light bar is the light assembly behind the vector/vision light bar. it rises up and has those can lights that warn traffic. they are meant for higher visibility. if you're from colorado, there is a police department somewhere close to denver that has their light bar mounted up on something that makes it rise up also. it's a similar concept. whelen makes a similar product that has 2 light bars that rise up completely perpendicular to the roof of the car.

What is a McDermott light bar? What does it do? I'm from Colorado and have not seen this before, except on these model cars.

Guest Ken wrote: Monday, February 27, 2006 - 10:15

This is all wrong... This car is supposed to be upside down, without a light bar, in a pond, right? :) No, really nice job!

Guest Ken wrote: Monday, February 27, 2006 - 9:46

That is a nice looking car...

This Model is a winner, but where is the pushbar and the driver/passegerside spotlights?

Guest Frank Wright wrote: Saturday, January 21, 2006 - 22:34

I don't know, it has character and at least it's close. It looks fine, I like it.

I plan on repainting this one. For now, I've stripped it down to represent an auction car. Click on my name to see my fotki page. This car is in the models album.

More pictures will be forthcoming. I've dug this one back out and am trying to get it finished.

This model is probably ten years old. It was built long before I had the fine information resource known as Copcar.com. My only research at the time was reading somewhere that Ohio had used gray cars. I bought some gray paint, found the decals, and here's the result.

I live in the midwest (Iowa) and I found the white police car at my Walmart when it came out in like 1999 or 2000
