VERY ACCURATE EXCEPT THAT THE RED LIGHTS SHOULD BE ON THE DRIVER'S SIDE AND THE BLUE OVER THE PASSENGER.

Thanks for the tips AJ. I recently learned how to blackwash from Greg and I have done that. I have only been building models about 8 months so I am learning more all the time.

Guest AJ wrote: Wednesday, October 12, 2005 - 12:50

James, You have a good start. A black wash of the grille will help. Also there is a black strip of rubber that went around the edge of the bumper as well as a strip of rubber that went on the bumperettes. Also put some silver-argent paint on the headlights.

I was wrong. This one is worse than the other one. No door handles, no mirrors. Too much chrome in the front. No attention to detail on the model or when the wall was painted. There is paint all over the wood window trim.

No I meant that it looks really bad.

Guest James Wright wrote: Tuesday, October 11, 2005 - 16:43

Well I am not 10 years old. However this was one of the first models I built. I have added more detail to the car since this picture. I agree I should have used a less intense color of blue on the interior I may try to change it in the near future.

Guest Rick wrote: Tuesday, October 11, 2005 - 14:19

He probably meant there was no detailing on this car. The inside is all bright blue. It looks like one my kid built. If you are under 10 years old James, then it looks very nice and keep up the good work. As you get older your models will look better. You're off to a good start.

Mr. Anonymous maybe I will just buy my next model from you on e-bay.

Guest ppd194 wrote: Monday, October 10, 2005 - 20:14

i guess mr.anonymous could do better since he couldn't even leave his name so that we might bask in his model building skills ,, that no doubt would make us all hide under the table or the closet or somthing along those lines,,,,,,

Testors Grabber Blue is the closest color on the market right now, its the one i have used on my NYPD models. Having spent a lot of time around NYPD vehicles (family is highly involved in the NYPD), i can say that this is definitely the closest available color. The real cars were a mix of 50% French Blue and 50% white to make that particular shade of blue (family is the Fleet Services Division), and that was too expensive to continue to custom mix, thats why they went to the white scheme.

Guest Joe A wrote: Thursday, June 23, 2005 - 18:36

Nice model & paint job, but, incorrect for the vehicle year as stated, so I guess it doesn't matter that the wheels should be blue with that paint scheme.

Guest Colin wrote: Thursday, June 23, 2005 - 6:48

Who cares if it's not historically accurate? i think the "Sunoco Special" looks better on this type of car
than the black and white would.

Excellent job on your model, but they didn't use a spot and only the Hwy. units had the push bars. And yes, we did use 1970 Ford's. I've just started the Heavenly Hobby kit...
