Markings and colors are dead on. VSP used Plymouth and Ford 4 doors in the 60's, and had the cone shaped siren/light combo's until the early 70's.

You're only about half right, Skippy. While the VSP did use primarily Ford and Plymouth in the 1960s, they were all two-door sedans. The roof-mounted siren/light combo was replaced in 1968 by the Federal Junior Beacon Ray single rotator. The first 4dr sedan for Virginia's State Police was the 1970 Plymouth Fury.
Here's the 4dr 1970:

And here's the last 2dr 1969:

where did you find this jem. What scale is it. where can i buy it please respond.

Rich and everyone else who asks,
These are all hand-built models. They are not diecast collectibles that you buy in a store. And no, they're not for sale. They were all assembled by skilled model builders who prefer to make police cars and trucks instead of hotrods or military aircraft. Most of these modelers have been building for 20 years and it shows. We were just lucky enough to have them submit photos of their vehicles to the site so we can show off their excellent work.
It's never too late to learn to build a model car. With some practice and patience, anyone could build a model that we'd be proud to show off here at copcar dot com.

I've seen pics of (real)NYPD cars both with and with out spotlights....in fact I've seen some with one on the driver's side and passenger side which in the 70's was really common in departments that utilized 2-man units - -what decides weather or not the unit is equipped with one?

Chicago was Chevy Cop Car city from 69-75, then Dodges, then Chevy, now Fords.
+++++++++++++++++++++++++++++
Not quite. In 69, we also had Plymouths and Fords. 1970 was the the lone year that the new cars were all Chevy. 71 through 78 we also bought Dodges each year along with the Biscaynes and Belairs.

A crook or speeder did'nt stand a chance against a 409 biscayne, did they? I know because I had a 62 409-409hp in my 57 Belair back in the days!

Hello,

Very nice looking model and definitely interested in having a model built if possible? I am a collector of police diecast as well as model cars and was wondering if any models you have are for sale or can be built? Currently live in Washington state and looking to have a "Washington State Patrol" chevy Trailblazer made or a 98+ Crown vic exactly to what the department vehicle has including all the detail. Do you know if "Dave Panek" is still making lightbars and if so is there a website a person can go too.

Could I buy your NYPD Crown Victoria?

Guest steve wrote: Monday, August 12, 2002 - 17:05

The door on the actual New Jersey State Police troop car of this era would only have read "STATE POLICE." Some cars had roof numbers, as well. Great looking model.

Guest pop wrote: Monday, August 12, 2002 - 17:01

This is a nice model, but VERY inaccurate. NJSP troop cars never used the triangle on standard vehicles until 1965. All that work for sub-standard results.
