LVFD should have the right to be the main EMS provider in Vegas . Medic West and AMR should handle county calls when Clark County Fire Rescue is not available .

Well etg you are wrong. This is an ambulance, as evidenced by the "Paramedic-Rescue" title on the side. While it is capable of transporting, Clark County and LVFD both have paramedics that respond to calls and provide aid, followed by a private company (Southwest for CCFD areas and AMR for LVFD areas) that do the transport in typical cases.

well, first off, i don't think this particular vehicle is an ambulance. however, the trend for a larger emergency response vehicle can hardly be called "sudden." in some areas, fire departments and ems units have been merged, causing these vehicles to carry more equipment than they're accustomed to. also, modern ems equipment has evolved over the years. with more sophisticated on board life saving equipment, i can only assume more room is needed for what can be described as an emergency room on wheels. put all that together, and you're going to need a drivetrain, motor and chassis that is going to be able to drive all of that. and it has also historically been proven, at least around my neck of the woods, that the larger ambulances, as opposed to the traditional van-style trucks, allow a higher rate of survival for the injured.

ccfd rescue

It is the CCFD shops. Can't remember what street it is on, I just find the place. But the CCFD supposedly now has new rules about the public, so I read in the newspaper. Thanks to the paranoia over 9-11, they no longer allow the public in to their fire stations. Don't know if that is true about the shops but I would think so.

I'm going to be taking a trip to Las Vegas in the next two weeks. Can anyone tell me where these old Clark County firetrucks are located, is this a fire department or a storage yard of some sort? I was also curious as to which Clark County fire station is the largest in the Las Vegas area.

Was this some experiment or was this in a contract city?

One of the small volunter FD's were I live has a 1971 Ford brush truck that they bought new and it only has 6000 miles.
