Tony

When CHP sold this unit, apparently they painted the car maroon. Back then, they would pay for a cheap paint job and used various colors. My 74 had been painted gold but the white roof was left.

The previous owner (whom I bought it from) had sanded off most of the maroon paint off the exterior, allowing the original black and white to show through. He also had the white roof re-painted but didn't get the entire car finished with paint.

I'm not sure at this moment if CHP would pay to have the door jams painted or if maybe the second owner had painted them. I'd have to look at pre-restoration photos of my 74 and see what color the jams were when I got it.

Dave,
Is it normal for black and white cars to have been another color. I see kind of a maroon color in the door jams. May someone tryed to paint over the blace and white?

Hi Dave,
the 117,5 inch wheelbase Monaco ist just one of the most beautiful cars ever built.

I love to see, that you saved one from degeneration.

My greatest compliments for such a beautiful car.

Fabulous. What that may have to do with a CHP car in a driveway in Texas, I'll never know....

I'm sure glad there is a work ticket on the mirror. Wouldn't want your 26 yr old copcar confused with all the others at the shop. Paint looks good. Nice job.

The sign above the car seems to be calling to me. It could be an omen?

The CHP used to paint the cars before selling them. Including the door jams. The unit number wasn't visible on the 74 that Robert now has.

Who is a "wannebe" or "fool" and why?

Traditionally, the CHP repaints their old cars before they are sold to the public.
