'79, '80, or '81?

It's always cool to see a interior shot of an early 70's Mopar. You can see the 140 m.p.h. certified speedometer and the full horn ring on the steering wheel. Even visible is the throttle lock located on the bottom of the dash above the gas petal.

I've got the Federal blue faced one in the trunk 2003 Crown Vic got it wired in my switch panel siren set on hi/lo 2 sirens really clears traffic.

The siren looks like a PA15A Series 1E. 'E' series units have the perforated chassis cover. The 'E' series sirens are quite common and are definitely 1970s models.

Just saw this.

If you're still looking here, check your local laws. Every state has different vehicle code guidelines as to what you can and can't do. The laws may be driven by the paint color, the age of the vehicle, the type of registration you have on the vehicle (i.e. historical vehicle plates), etc. No two states are the same and it'll take a fair amount of digging to find the correct answer.

If in doubt ask a cop. Most beat cops probably won't know off the top of their heads. You may have to visit, write to, or call your local PD and ask to speak to the traffic supervisor. They'll usually help you out, as long as you're reasonably pleasant and don't come across as a wannabe cop.

Good luck

Info for Gary S. The chances of finding a Federal PA-1
that works may be slim. On mine only the manual button
works, the wail does not. You are right, it has no other tones. Being 35+ years old, Federal could offer no help
no parts, and no schematics. The parts look like they are
from another planet. I still want to keep it though, sorry
While I am dieing to get a "Mars Clarion II" I will understand if you don`t want to part with yours. But if we could work something out, or trade for another unit or ?. contact me at.

Please pass this on to Gary S.

PS That looks like a Federal PA-15A in the picture.
I have a PA-15, it comes with more features, wail
and yelp, with alert. And 6 position selector
just like a PA-20. Go figure.

What vintage year is that Federal siren? Look older them my MARS Clarion II (AKA: Federal Interceptor). I think mine is from the mid 70's cause it has wail, yelp, and Hi-Lo. The first Federal siren just had wail I heard. The one I have is just an old piece I am hanging onto, but I would like to find an original Federal with just wail (They all had PA and radio re-broadcast)
