I usually only see the front of these cars in my rear view mirror. They have white doors? J/K

If you are just refering to CHP the answer is because differnt years they used differnt brands of lightbars. Since the mid 90's most of their cars have a Vector Vision lightbar as is shown above. Before that the used a Jetsonic bar. In the 70's and 80's they used either a Federal Twinsonic or a Federal Areodynic. If you are speaking of highway patrol agenices in general its because differnt states perfer differnt make of lightbars.

Why do the highway patrol cars have different lights on top?

Where can I find the years of the cars on these photos? thanks.
This particular CHP Ford is a 1999 version. With over 8000 pictures on the site, it's quite time consuming to label each and everyone of them. Most of them on my page are captioned, but that's because the photos are from my personal collection. Most of the remaining pictures are from contributors who don't know the year of the car themselves or uploaded in large batches making it difficult to name each picture as it's added. If you have questions about a photo, please leave a comment like you did and we'll try to get an answer for you soon as we can. We read the new comments every day.

Please understand that the photos you are seeing at this fotki site are only ARCHIVES, i.e., photo storage. They are stored here but for the most part, explained and catalogued in the main site, The folders here pretty much represent the structure of the site. In other words, you are looking at a picture in my photo storage folder. You can find this photo on the main site, under my name and in the California section. There, it may or may not have the year. If I know the year when I label the photos, I put that in the description. I am not as good as others who can look at a particular accessory (such as a piece of trim) and determine the year model.

Not sure if that helps, but I would venture to say, half your questions about year-model can be answered just by surfing the regular site.
