"duh stupid. are they black? are they in a box shape? just because they are referred to as a black box doesn't mean it has anything to do with aircraft nor does it mean that the person mentioning them assumes they are."

No need to get racial, anonymous. What, one more pun and you'll pull out your gun?

So then the agency is now "Caba-gone!" ...except for the "Cab" part.

As with aircraft, these can't be black boxes. Real black-boxes are orange. (I didn't watch the Learning Channel or Discovery Channel last night, but I did stay in a Holiday Express?)

Civica Platescan - automatic license plate recognition (ALPS)...

Are the black boxes on top the "plate readers"?

I've got to be honest with you, I never even noticed them until you said something. I would assume that is what they are.

I also never noticed this guy's partner sitting in the car until after I took the picture covertly from a gas station. But he did. And, of course, I had to answer some questions.

It's nice to see that Santa Monica PD just went back to the traditional black and white paint job this year.

It's as if this was taken in l972 timeframe. Hot sheet and all, either off the Universal City Studios "Adam 12" set or a great keep by the LAPD. When we got our first Federal electronic siren units, wow, were we thrilled! I remember those Motorola radios as well. Phil Henning, Retired AF Lt Col and former enlisted Security Police. Dave--keep them coming!

Guest William wrote: Friday, February 9, 2007 - 13:14

Beats walking around a park all day or having to run to a fight in the park.
