Well, Boyd, maybe you and Chip could volunteer some of your incredible paint and detail skills to the agencies that drive Boooooooooooring vehicles. The cool thing about this "tape scheme" is the simplicity. It looks good and is affordable to agencies that don't have the money that places like Aspen and Boulder have.

Guest Boyd Coddington wrote: Sunday, April 15, 2007 - 14:43

I would hardly call that a "paint scheme" unless you're talking about the white that Jeep sprayed on at the assembly plant. What you've got there is a piece of blue tape, a piece of yellow tape and a star sticker.

This was a really cool paint scheme- Sheriff's agencies across the state used this same set up on their units for years, the only difference would be the name of the county on the badge.

Unless they are used only for Capitol Police use, one Impala is more than enough. They look good, but they are cramped and gutless. Any perp in any rear-drive V8 can get a substantial jump on one of these. The new Imp's are supposed to be a bit quicker, I've heard.

As Dane Cook would put it, that is a BAMF right there. Clean, simple, Colorado has always done it right.

Volvo and Saab use Aspen and Vail for advertising. Breckenridge also had the same deal with Land Rover. They lease the cars for $1.00 /yr. These 3 towns atract a lot of tourist from all parts of the world. The attention the vehicles get works for the car maker for free ads. And the city saves alot on vehicle cost by the LOW price of the lease. The cars are usually replaced every year so repair cost is nothing because of new car warrenty and the only cost is general maintenaceand the occasional body damage.

the difference is night and day between these and a p71, in any weather.

the slaab is faster, more fuel efficient, more comfortable, handles better and yes, is much better in the snow.

it had better be. it was designed to run in the snow.

as for the cost...meh.
have you seen the property taxes for aspen?

Mr Publicsafetyvehicles, why don't you turn the comments on at your fotki page? I'm sure a lot of viewers would enjoy leaving comments under your photos.

I don't know if this is still the case, but in the past Aspen and Breckenridge would lease higher end vehicles for patrol cars. The emergency equipment had to be installed in a manner that would not leave mounting holes or otherwise damage the car. The cars were usually returned after just a couple years. It’s probably not too much more expensive than buying crown vics outright. I think the towns liked these types of vehicles for use in the snow, and just for the image it presented to all the rich snobs in town.

And because they can afford them.

Anonymous wrote: Saturday, December 23, 2006 - 12:26

Why does Aspen use these vehicles? Im guessing there good in snow conditions?

How many Chevy impalas do the CO State Patrol currently have?

Anonymous wrote: Thursday, October 5, 2006 - 7:23

How many Ford Expeditions do the CO State Patrol have? Because the state of CO has snow, it has to have many Ford Expedition Four-wheel drive police vehicles.

ok, so here goes:

another super truck. couldn't my country (my body politic) be like the american (yankee) police, just the other day? do you have any more pictures of these super cars, what sizes, and how much are they (i kid you not, we even get international requests), this silver, he'll ride with esteem. thank you, pay attention and mind what you are about, for myself, bowing.

you gotta love those online translating things. but i guess it could be worse, he could have said patrole instead of patrol.

Does Dodge offer a police package for it's trucks or does all of this come from scatch..........No police intercepters?

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Not with pick-up trucks. No US vehicle manufacturer makes a police version of one of those. The Durango SUV was (and may still be) the only truck from Dodge offered in a law enforcement version.
