when i went to louisiana a few years a ago i saw a whole bunch of these guys but no state troopers and i was wondering the difference between the commercial vehicle enforcement and the state patrol as i am from canada and we dont have commercial vehicle enforcement thanks guys

You didn't see a whole bunch of these guys because they are in Kentucky, not Louisiana. But you may have seen Louisiana commercial enforcement units. They regulate heavy trucks, mostly. And since that means revenue, both from violations and Federal grants, there probably a whole lot more active. The other thing is that they tend to stay on the Interstates for enforcement, since that is where the trucks are at. Troopers, or state police, have a lot more territory to cover, including the miles and miles of state highways off the beaten path. So they are spread a little thinner and not seen as much by Interstate travelers.

And, Canada does have commercial enforcement units in some areas, just check the photo archives.

I would not worry about it to much the Blues Brothers 2000 was not all that good of a movie especially compared to the first one.

Hey, Tater! Ron White wants his personality back.

He could be watching for narcotic smugglers. The trucker doesn't fit the discription of a smuggler.

Kind of hard to run the radar around that tree though. He is probably crossing the median.

Guest dsc wrote: Sunday, January 15, 2006 - 13:45

it looks like he is just setting up radar if you look at the grass pushed down he pulled up from the other way

.....and I prefer Kellogg's Raisin Bran over Post Raisin Bran which has about as much to do with Tennessee as Kenosha County Wisconsin.....

Wisconsin State Patrol had there CVE (Motor Carrier Enforcement) merged with the WSP in the mid 1990's just as the THP and there CVE did. Also the Kenosha County Sheriff,Wisconsin is phasing from red to white in 2004 with the same reason as Ohio State Highway Patrol said. WHITE IS THE BEST POLICE CAR COLOR!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

The MSP blue is love by people and feared by speeders. I did see a silver MSP crown vic at the Calhoun County fair in Marshall. I also saw on my way to Ann Arbor, a MSP crown vic with a gumball style light, but it was blue and not red! I wonder when this went on? Also, the new Dodge Charger is out for a police vehicle now. Can't wait to see if any are purchased.

I am the owner of the above vehicle. Movies allmost never influence the color scheme of standing dept's vehicles. At the time of 'live and let die' LSP's paint scheme WAS red & white, with red lights. It had been so since about 1964, and continued to about 1973. In 1974 they deleted the red hood & trunk and went to all white up until 1988, as greg said, then blue w/gold markings and a changeover to blue lights until 1991, 4 yrs. Then the former governor was voted in again and they brought back the white cars with red lettering, but keeping the blue overheads, deleting the red lightbars that had been their staple light color from 1988 back.

I am not aware of LSP being represented in 'Smokey & the Bandit" at all.
