Note the "PSA 4" on the quarter panel, compared with the "PSA 2" on the old orange/blue Housing PD.

The Housing Police and Transit Police, as well as any other CITY police agencies have been combined with NYPD now. They are all one department. That happened years ago, mid 90s I want to say.

Thanks for the info I didn't know they had housing police. Am I correct that the auxillary also have dark blue cars?

The do now. They have the opposite of what the NYPD uses. Prior to '97 when NYPD vehicles were blue, the auxiliary cars were white.

That is incorrect, Greg. Today, they use the same car as the regulars, only with AUXILIARY on the rear door. See this picture:

There are still some navy blue Auxiliary cars on the street but apparently that scheme is now reserved for NYPD Traffic Enfrocement(not Highway Patrol)

I am pretty sure the dark blue NYPD cars belong to their auxillary police. However this is the first one I seen with an orange top.

From the looks of it I think whoever owned this car was confused about weather they worked for the police or the FIRE DEPARTMENT!
