Me neither. Then there's the opposite thing I also dislike. When graphics don't interfere with the door moulding, but they don't install the moulding anyway.

Never liked it when the door trim is over a emblem.

its 4wd in S.U.V.'s not AWD.
4wd you have the option to put it in rear drive or 4 wheel, with AWD you don't get that choice its awd all the time, more of the power can be transferred to the rear wheel or the front but all 4 whells have power all of the time

Hmmmm.....Never seen any of those Tahoe's around(I gotta keep an eye out for it at the State surplus auction).Public safety officers drive around in mid 90's Buick Century's,01-newer Impalas and the Taurus.

Its our version of the DMV and they are the top department that overviews "public safety" in Oklahoma. They overview the OHP,Vehicle Safety and resgitriaton and are part of the "Commercial Vehicle Enforcement".So don't drive junk on our highways or you'll get pulled over,And trust me they do.

Hi Brinda, always thought this was a great looking car. I really like stopping by OHP during the week, you get a wide variety of OK cars parked around. And there's never a hassle from anybody.

On the Dodge Charger issue; OHP are only issuing them to Troopers that have completed the LEDT II course (the Camaro course). As far as how many; there are 18 in service with approx. 22 more by July. They are very impressive. PS: The Impalias have failed misably. Definantly not your old Caprices

short and tall...eeh...ugly.

The guest says that the OHP probably have both Ford Police Interceptors and Dodge Chargers. However, there is one major advantage the Ford Police Interceptor over the Charger. I completely agree with the guest that the Ford Police Interceptor does not have rear visibility problem.

Oklahoma has lost another one of its finest. Last Sunday, October 1st, an Oklhoma Highway Patrol Trooper was killed in the line of duty while responding to an emergengy call on the Will Rogers Turnpike in northeastern Oklahoma. While results from the investigation have not yet been released, newspaper acounts state that while enroute, the troopers call had been canceled. When he tried execute a u-turn through an opening in the concrete divider, he was hit by an 18 wheeler resulting in a nasty crash that killed both the trooper and the truck driver.

The article goes on to mention that the trooper was driving one of the new Dodge Chargers and that "he may not have been familiar with a blind spot that can conceal obstacles at rear looking angles"

I've seen it mentioned here at CDC a few times that rear visibility is limited in the new Chargers. Makes you wonder.

My heart goes out to the troopers family.

How many the Ford Police Interceptors do the OK Highway Patrol have?

Guest paul reznicek wrote: Saturday, August 26, 2006 - 20:35

When I graduated from Putnam City West, the Campus Police were still using few retired Postal Jeeps, some hand-me-down 73-74 Grand Furys from the OHP Capital Patrol, at least one 75 Pontiac Lemans, and a couple 9C1 Chevy Novas.

Guest paul reznicek wrote: Saturday, August 26, 2006 - 20:23

Yes, the OHP has has purchased some of the new Chargers. Though I'm not sure how many so far, I have seen several around the OKC area. They look darn good!.

There aren't very many of the marked 2000-2005 Impalas left. I did see one on the Kilpatrick Tpk a couple days ago, but that was the first one I've seen on the road in a while. I have not seen any 2006 Impalas. Something tells me they weren't that impressed with them.

Okla County is purchasing 40 of the new Chargers. They have already taken delivery of a few. While they are nice, to me, they don't look as good as the OHP version.

Guest Chris wrote: Friday, August 25, 2006 - 16:34

It makes you wonder how many of these early-model cars are still in the field. That's awesome that she's still running. I've seen Putnam City School District Celebrities still running, though I'm sure that's fairly common in most school districts.

Guest Chris wrote: Friday, August 25, 2006 - 16:22

I've volunteered at Septemberfest with the Boy Scouts alongside Capital Patrol and the majority of their fleet seemed to be Impalas compared to the Police Interceptor. That never made much sense to me. I've also always wondered why I haven't seen the Impala on the interstates in Okla.

As for the 2006 Impala, I haven't seen any outfitted as Police vehicles in central OK yet. I have seen Chargers with Oklahoma County and the OHP banner yet. Does anyone know if OHP has fielded the Charger yet?
