Well for one the paint scheme doesnt really mean jack when you are riding in the car, the residents of the command wont like you more if you have a nice one and two they are probably cheaper for the city to buy while still overlooking the fact that my partner could get out and run faster than im driving, but hey you cant ask for everything.

Yes, it is law in Florida, that all sheriff dept's vehicles have green & yellow in the paint/decaling.

Guest jw wrote: Friday, April 21, 2006 - 2:58

Does anybody know if there is a law in Florida that says sheriff's department vehicles have to be white and green?

That is one GREAT license plate.

Dave, It took a little time, but I believe the name of the Chief for the Chino P.D. at that time was Chief Meehan. I hope my mental rolodex hasn't failed me.

I am curious how many police cars does the NYPD have?

I am also curious as to how they were painted I think I saw on this site a couple powder blue Crown Victoria's but I am wondering did the NYPD have white police cars back in the early and mid 90's because I see pre 1998 NYPD Crown Victoria's painted white and it seems that all the Caprices were blue and all the Crown Victoria's were white.

Guest carl wrote: Monday, February 20, 2006 - 17:36

PCT numbers were put back on in 1978.

Guest Mike wrote: Sunday, January 29, 2006 - 16:39

Why does the NYPD use Impalas? I personally think the Crown Victoria looks much better in their paint schem and I like the looks of the Crown Vic much better in General

Guest Mike wrote: Sunday, January 29, 2006 - 16:34

Whats up with those Graphics their kinda old school I thought the NYPD had the caprices say NYPD POLICE on both doors not their crest on one door I know its a 91 but I thought that even the 91s has the NYPD POLICE graphics on both doors

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
I guess you thought wrong then. They tried several different ways to mark their cars before deciding on one of them in 1994.
Allegheny County, Pennsylvania (ie: Pittsburgh), not VA. Not sure where it's at, but knowing PennDOT that road is probably still closed!
Thanks for the clarification.
It could be either, but the red Plymouth in the background is the car used in the old tv series, "Car 54, Where Are You?" in the days of B&W television the red would appear to be darker, like blue or black.The red was chosen so the citizens of NYC would not mistake it for a real police car.
Ther ya go, guys. Another piece of American Cultural Trivia. :D
Guest Any Mouse wrote: Wednesday, July 27, 2005 - 20:30
And they had to use an Impala too.
...and for $7000 firm you can own this piece of crap. They didn't even put the taillights in correctly. It's in Tuxedo Park, NY.
i know its not in service, but there was much newer lightbar technology back then in '91. Besides, the bubble gum lamp is decades old even in '91.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
True, but when it lit up the traffic still pulled over. Look at the Michigan State Police. They still have the single red roof light and it does the job fine for them.

Do you really think this 1991 Chevy is still in service? Besides I believe 91 was the last year they used the bubble gum lamp. I believe the 92's had either a Whelen strobe bar or a Jetsonic.

Anonymous wrote: Monday, June 27, 2005 - 10:58

hasn't the VSP heard about new lightbar technology?

Guest Jim wrote: Thursday, June 23, 2005 - 11:08

Chatham County and Savannah P.D. recently merged.

Guest Colin wrote: Sunday, June 19, 2005 - 5:15

To Greg:

These cars were white, the reason it looks tan is maybe because of the film quality,the color on the bottom of the doors is either a shadow or dirt. All of B.P.D's vehicles were white as far as I know, I've seen photos of these cars in various places, so it would've been the same color as the 78' Monaco on the next page.
