1986 was the last year for Dodge diplomats for the ISP. 1987 caprice was the state bid car. Chevy has it till 1996. ************************* Along with the Caprices, the ISP also purchased Dodge RamCharger 4x4s state-wide and Ford LTD CV station wagons for Chicago area expressways after taking over enforcement duties from CPD in 1987

Greg Would you be able to tell me what year the ISP dropped the Dodge Diplomats and began buying Chevrolet Caprices. I know the Diplomat/Grand Fury was made until 1989 but I have never seen one older than 1986 that was owned by the ISP. *********************** The ISP never really "dropped" Diplomats. Each year, vehicles are purchased from the manufacturer offering the State the lowest bid price. Some years it was Chevy, others it was Dodge and some years it was Ford. As far as I'm aware, I think 86 or 87 was the last year that Mopar had the low bid.
