I don't know about Co. but in So. Ca., the L.A. County Sheriff's dept. used to roll while wearing helmets during the same time period. At least the deputies that were chasing me were wearing them. Ahhh! those wonderful days of pre-adolesence!

The T on the door means this is a traffic enforcement car used to patrol I-25 and I-70.
That car looks stunning. The police cars here in the UK are so boring to look at.

I remember when Dallas put these into service. We retired our Ramblers when we got these HOT RODS. The Ramblers wouldn't catch a fat boy on a bicycle. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ I think the fact there were Ramblers still on the street in 1977 was the bigger problem.

about time? I remember when I was a young hoodlum in Philly (15-20 years ago), getting chase by those damn SUVs. I believe they were Ford Broncos but they could have been Chevy Blazers, I don't recall exactly.

Its about time cops started using suv. They get to where a crown victoria won't make it. All departments should atleast have one. Top heavy but effective.

I think it is an -53 or earlier because the emblem "mainline" at -54 had a different style, it was longer and "squarier". I have a -54 Mainline fordor myself and looking for this particular emblem.
The first used cop car I bought was a 1980 Arizona Department of Public Safety (DPS) Gran Fury, in December 1983. They auctioned them off in downtown Phoenix, at an Arizona surplus property yard. The car had the E58 engine, and fluid-to-air coolers for engine oil, transmission fluid and power steering fluid. The DPS garage left the spotlight on, and an assortment of wires cut off at both ends. The high beams didn't work because the wig-wag had been removed, but the wires were not re-spliced together. That was quite a shock the first time I hit the brights and everything went black! The strangest thing was the combination radio/cb antenna replacing the production radio antenna. It looked like something you bought at Kmart. The DPS emblem was cut horizontally and put above/below the body side moulding. The DPS was running the "Lean Burn" computers inside the car on the passenger side, obviously to try and keep them working (The stock wiring harness reached!) The computer just laid on the floor.
While not particularly quick by todays standards, and plagued with sagging K-members, they are one of the best looking 4 door sedans Chrysler made. The handling and brakes were excellent. Wish I'd never sold that one. If I ever run across a E58 powered R body for sale in good shape I'll pick it up.
Sweet! If I could see the license plates, I could tell if this is my car or not. The odds are against it, but its still a great representation of what my car looked like when it was in service with Texas DPS. Rock on!
Are any 1997 Colorado Highway Patrols accounted for ? I would be interested to know if I could acquire any other pictures or information on the 1997 BC4 Camaro. I am the present owner of what might possibly this car pictured.
