Relax, Taco man. The TwinSonic lightbar is red. It's just an old and faded photograph.

Truth is, Ford did infact have the Crown vic back then. Ford used that name on various models up to '56, dropped it, and then re-introduced it in '79. At that time you had a choice of trim options which included the base LTD, LTD Landau and the luxury LTD Crown Victoria. The LTD name was dropped after 1991.
_____________
I'm sure he probably meant that the Crown Victoria trim level of the LTD was not used as a police car in the late 70s/early 80s when this photo was taken.

Hey Thad, why can't the Ford next to it be a 1979-1980 LTD? They didn't have Crown Victorias back then. They were badged LTD.

Guest Thad Jameson wrote: Wednesday, October 29, 2003 - 6:31

Iam pretty sure that this AMC wagon is a 1974 model parked next to it is probably a 1984 or 1985 ford crown victoria.

ONLY IF YOU KNEW THAT IT WAS ACTUALLY AN X HERTZ RENTAL CAR......

Guest Steve Markley wrote: Monday, June 9, 2003 - 14:29

The car is a 55 Buick but it is a hardtop. It is owned by Gary Goltz of Upland Ca. The car is a replica and is named the "Broderick Crawford" Special. He can be reached at email-gsgoltz@aol.com. He sent me pictures and if you request he may sent you some.

Minor correction folks....I missed the years on these dodges by one. The early Squad 51 Dodge was of the '70-'71 model..(same body as the '61-'69, different grill)..., The newer Dodge was of the newer '72 body style. The point I was trying to make was that there was indeed two different Squad 51 Dodges. AND...for those who don't know it, there were also two different Engine 51's. The first was an open top Crown, the second was an enclosed Ward-LaFrance.
____________________________________________
ALL of you are missing the point. It doesn't matter if they used 1 Dodge truck or 20 of them during the course of the tv series. This truck that I photographed is one of them. It was used during the show in an on-camera role. That makes it an original from the tv show as stated in the caption. Does that mean it was the very first one from the premier episode? No. I never said that.
The same would hold true for the Hill Street Blues Fury I have pictures of. Could a '76 Dodge Monaco also be an original Hill Street car? Yes. They were used in the opening sequence. How about a '72 Satellite? Yup. They used those on the show too. They also had '77 Impalas and the 76 Fury squads. Don't forget the one episode with the 1980 Olds Delta88 with a red/blue AeroDynic lightbar. If you were to find any one of these cars, they would be original because they were all used on the show.

On the contrary. The original Squad 51 Dodge used in the pilot show, and the first few early episodes, was in fact a '68-'69 D300, after which the "new" '73-'74 Dodge pictured above was used. You can catch all the old EMERGENCY! reruns on TV Land. If you catch the right episodes, you'll see for yourself. Also check out www.sweptline.com for dodge truck models.

After glancing at this photo initially, I thought it was one of the '55 Buick Century post two-doors, but it looks like a hardtop. Anyone have any pictures of the car in question?

Guest Johnny Gage wrote: Friday, March 7, 2003 - 19:22

Guest Ken Merritt wrote: Friday, March 7, 2003 - 17:59

This one is not the original Squad 51. The original was a 1965 Dodge D300.
