These are new Miami-Dade County Police cars just after the overhead lights and radio equipment was installed. The cars are now waiting to be taken to a parking garage where they are striped and the cages are installed. This picture was taken at the ITD Radio Shop in South Dade. Some ares in Miami you would think you're in South America so technically it's not wrong to say they're awaiting shipment to South America.

I dont know if my comment matters but here there is a old yard and many of the cars are repainted (just were old logo's were removed) and sold in packs to mexico police, etc. as for the plates here they leave them on as MVD personnel remove them right before auction or on auction day. same case here possibly. i recall here they auctioned off fcv's, new that were rear ended, or damaged, then fixed cheap, and shipped off to mexico were whoever there bought them.
ok, better monitor, blah, blah, yak, yak...but seriously..."i can plainly see that it SAY'S florida?" i might be able to see that it says florida, not say's. and i know that i type in all lowercase, but some punctuation other than commas would be nice.
ok my spelling is off but you should get a better monitor because you can plainly see that it say's florida

roo676, i have to get my eyes checked? non-floridians can't tell that's a florida exempt plate because the text is too small on the plate to read. and while i might need my eyes checked, you might want to check the dictionary every once in a while...
i have TOO agree with ppd194...

When I add notes or identities to vehicles, I am left to what I am told by the contributor. In this case, the contributor stated that these vehicles were being readied for transport to South America. So that is how it got labeled.
i have too agree with ppd194 these are at the metro dade county make ready yard this was right before they were put into service in 1999 there is a place close by that does sell used p.i. to smaller nations but these units are future metro dade cars ,,,,,the photo is not captioned properly , mr taco grande you need your eyes checked those are florida exempt plates and they have been that color for some time now . dave yu have a wonderful site here thanks for all the great pics.and thanks for giving some of us a place to enjoy the hobbie
i dont know maybe the fact that the plates say FL exempt on them might be why i would say there realy in florida,, florida exempt plates were that color for a time as well,,,, mr taco loco
oh, the geniuses are out in droves this week. first, what eagle-eyed person made those out to be florida plates? second, can't you read the caption of the picture? it says "Misc - Ford PIs awaiting shipment to South America." these are good 'ol american explode-if-you-hit-me-in-the-rear crown vics being prepped for export to south america. now, i know that a lot of people think that florida is south america, but they actually mean the continent, not the region of the usa.
this looks more like the miami dade make ready area in 99 to me ,, these were most likely there new units ,,,,being that the photo was taken in 99 and these look new.
These cars have FLA.plates, and Miami/Dade has those type of Street Hawks and the DOT tape around the rear bumpers?? The old Chevy Caprice in the back ground looks the the Miami-Dade logo too??
i have TOO agree with ppd194...
